Right...I think the high side of our expectations was 90 wins. 15-12 would be 90 win pace through 162 games, and we'll be 14-13 if we lose today. And that is with a difficult schedule, our young nearly cant miss guys struggling at times and the pitching not performing up to their track records and expectations. A 90-72 team will have stretches where they look terrible and stretches where they look great. We've seen both so far this year and we will see both again this year. As long as our young guys are improving over the course of the season and the pitching levels out we will be a good team.

/Optimistic comment due to Blackhawks and Bulls emotionally balancing the Cubs losing

Still in good shape for the Wild Card, which is what we're really playing for.

If anyone but STL were in front of us, you'd be wrong.

I still am not giving up hope for some sort of karmic rejiggering, but after watching them get break after break for 4 straight days, it's pretty clear this is one of those years where everything will come up Satan...I mean St. Louis.

Why am I listening to the Cardinals AB? If I get lunch now, they could add a few runs to their tally before the Cubs AB.

I know it's unreasonable to get upset when batters swing through fastballs, but Bryant has seemed pretty slow on fastballs over the plate this year. Just wallop one.

WHAT? A call AGAINST the Cardinals??

aaand of course the Cubs do zilch to capitalize. Fairy dust makes it all go away with the very next pitch.

Agreed. It wasn't really in issue in the series at PNC so I'm a little flummoxed by it.

Offense is gonna have another double digit strikeout game...8 already.

Does that translate into something like the double bonus rule, only St. Louis gets an extra out at their next AB? :D

That does it. I officially hate the Cardinals. It's like Maverick vs. the Ice Man in Top Gun. Or something.
