Muskat says it will be Alcantara going down.

expected, but still glad to hear it. he needs everyday ab's to go figure things out. i don't write him off at all, but he's a mess.

The Cubs may be publicly downplaying their odds of contending this season, but this move is proof they know they can win, and win now.

I need new pants

Ok Theo, now go get us a front line young stud starter and let's win it all.

i'm awfully tempted to trade for a left fielder instead. let's just score every run.

If there ever was a time to sell high on The Southern League Player of the Week, INFIELDER Dan Vogelbach, now is the time.

Yep. Our staff is fine. Score every run.

i'm pretty sure you could look at their handling of russell (calling him up after a half season in the high minors) and find that it wildly contradicts some of the stuff that theo was saying about why they didn't call bryant up last year or early this year. some reporter should troll theo with that.

Oh I'm sure Wittenmyer will. He asked Theo at the Bryant press conference about what impressed him with Bryant's "development" during his one week at Iowa.

injuries/russell should have been up last year make it pretty easy to talk around that

I would give almost anything for Theo to respond to such a question by just sitting back and saying, "Dongs."

Somebody was talking about how full of [expletive] he was just last week.

Yeah I actually think if alcantara was doing anything useful theo would be fine leaving Russell down for a bit longer

This too. Theo could really respond to that idea by just pointing out that our priorities have changed, and this is consistent with what he said the Cubs would be doing once that happened.

I just looked it up for comparison sake, even calling Russell up relatively quick here he has more PA's at AA and AAA than Starlin ever did.

"We didn't want to call up Addison right now, but we just weren't getting the production out of second base that we needed."

just a friendly reminder that these are the projections for russell this year:

steamer: 0.237/0.287/0.379/0.666

ZIPS: 0.243/0.302/0.404/0.706

CAIRO: 0.219/0.273/0.351/0.624

PECOTA: .239/.298/.389/.687

there's a good chance that he's not going to be very good this season. but he'll almost certainly be better than the hot garbage that cubs' 2b have been so far this season.

You mean the OPS's of .399, .333 and .303 aren't impressing you?
