Holy hell, the rampant Castro being traded speculation by other message boards right now. Why is it so hard for people to understand that shortstops can play other positions?

just a friendly reminder that these are the projections for russell this year:

steamer: 0.237/0.287/0.379/0.666

ZIPS: 0.243/0.302/0.404/0.706

CAIRO: 0.219/0.273/0.351/0.624

PECOTA: .239/.298/.389/.687

there's a good chance that he's not going to be very good this season. but he'll almost certainly be better than the hot garbage that cubs' 2b have been so far this season.

Get out

Loveeeeeeeeeeee this

Detroit needs to start losing so they can unload Price

cincy is very unlikely to make the playoffs and has a borderline ace (cueto) who is a free agent after this season.

What is it about Cueto that you find to be "borderline" ace?

I just don't listen to or pay attention to that crap speculation anymore. Especially (not that it was needed) that it came out today from our GM saying Castro is the SS long-term and Russell is the 2B

this is officially a guns-blazing, put the 25 best players we can possibly find on the major league roster team. holy [expletive].

beyond excited.

and it's almost a baseball mogul lineup which isn't that big of a deal for any tangible reason but is pretty freaking cool

lol, this move made the roster match my baseball mogul roster. Addy was the only difference, had to have him playing.

Man [expletive] all that. Dude is gonna kill it.

i'm not saying that he's probably going to be terrible, but i really do not see him being an impact player this season. that being said, if he can even be league average (a little below average offensively, but he should be a plus defender) than that's a [expletive] load better than the pitcher-esque offense we've gotten so far from 2B.

and i don't think that russell coming up means that he is the 2b for any indefinite period of time; if baez or alcantara get their games back together they could replace him, or la stella could be decent at 2b and start against some RHP.

Ok Theo, now go get us a front line young stud starter and let's win it all.

If there ever was a time to sell high on The Southern League Player of the Week, INFIELDER Dan Vogelbach, now is the time.

If the medicals look alright I want Alex Cobb, he's under control through 2017 and dominant. I just wonder if it could get done without Baez or Schwarber.

what is the question, the borderline or the ace?

Probably the part in quotes. He hasn't had an era above 3.00 since 2010

I have to say, I'm partial to someone's earlier suggestion to name tomorrow Russellmania.

Addison Russell almost didn't answer his phone. Hadn't put Iowa manager Marty Peavy's number in yet and didn't recognize area code. #Cubs

Russell said his first call was to his family. Spoke to father Wayne, mother Milany and two teenage sisters. Little brother Tyson was in bed

So what is that we're giving up here?

If we're talking about midseason pitching acquisitions, I'm curious how Latos pitches this spring. The Marlins look like they aren't going to be in the race and they sure aren't going to retain him, and he's young enough that an extension could still be a good idea.

between north over at PSD saying to trade castro and you suggesting trading for this piece of [expletive] my whole world is turning upside down on what is an otherwise glorious night

Almora would need to become a top 25ish type prospect again to even have a remote shot at being able for that to happen.

Eh, he hasn't been good in 2 years and his velo was down last year and this year now compared to career averages

We're all very impressed you took the time to write down all their names, Ash.
