This makes me a little nervous because I was hoping to see him play for Iowa when they come to Round Rock on like June 20th or something like that. I hope it takes him awhile to learn how to play second base effectively so he's still around when I go to the game!

Yeah, that's not going to happen, and you shouldn't want it to happen. The sooner Russell is up here and Jonathan Herrera isn't getting starters' ABs, the more games the Cubs will likely win.

I'm not sorry that I am selfish like that.

C - 2 headed monster with a papier mache third head that gets smashed with ease at every opportunity

fixd

DID YOU KNOW: Ross leads Cubs catchers with a .370 wOBA, 2nd only to Bryant for players with 10+ PA.

entirely on the back of intentional walks and unintentional intentional walks, don't care at all

You'd rather have had him expand the zone and ground out/pop-up weakly?

Ross was my least favorite move of the offseason, and I really hope they stop using him as Lester's caddy the moment that Castillo is gone. But I think some are so predisposed to hate him that the fact that he's been fine so far is being cast aside as irrelevant.

He's got nothing on Jason Hammel

not being impressed by his gifted walks is not the same as wishing he's swing away more often.

probably the best prospect in baseball now

Not until Bryant loses prospect status.

to be perfectly clear, i don't consider players who are up in the majors to stay prospects anymore, so Bryant/Pederson/Soler aren't considered

I think it's been cast aside as irrelevant because it's 10 PAs

Any chance of that? I get the impression Ross is taking starts from Montero right now, not Castillo, and don't see any reason that would stop - if anything, him catching Lester after Castillo is gone seems more likely to me.

The idea/hope would be that he'd move into a more traditional backup C/vs. lhp side of a platoon if castillo is gone to fill those roles and give montero rest against what would be his bad matchups.

It's a stretch IMO that doing this would also necessarily lead to him not getting the Lester starts too, though.

Have you seen what Correa is doing this year? It's awfully close.

No one's saying it's predictive, but making Ross a punching bag without actually playing poorly yet makes even less sense.

Selfish? If you are a Cubs fan, its not selfish its dumb to want to hurt the team you cheer for so that you can watch a guy play in a relatively meaningless game 2 months from now.

That's a lot like Dusty's insistence on seeing established bad players actually play poorly for him before determining they were not good.

It makes more sense to criticize his presence on the roster based on his resume than shoosh the criticism based on a couple walks in a handful of PA.

The .297 IsoP doesn't do it for you?

not if he's more a fan of watching the iowa cubs than the actual cubs for some reason

for one, I'd say he is playing poorly, as his lester magic hasn't worked and the only "good" he's done at the plate has been being walked intentionally.

secondly, my biggest issue with him is how his presence leaves the cubs with a four man bench, half of which are catchers.

Am I the only one that actually wouldn't mind Addy getting a month or two more's worth of time in at AAA?

Ideally, I'd like to see him draw more walks than Almora before getting the call.

That would be nice. Also OPSing over .800 for a while would be nice too.
