Bryant should have been penalized 15 yds for running on the field and yelling at the referee with his helmet off.

DeMarco Murray also mysteriously avoided a helmet removal penalty after scoring a touchdown.

That one didn't bother me too much, it was accidental. However if you're going to enforce it there could be some justification

Right, it was accidental, and a stupid penalty regardless. But the pop the chinsstrap helmet jumps off move is usually a penalty, and that should have had refs on notice.

I haven't heard anyone mention it, but Bryant actually did this in the first half of the game as well. I'm pretty sure it was right after the running into the punter that extended the 99-yard TD drive.

As much as I hate Detroit I am the biggest Lions fan this weekend.

I'll be rooting for either DAL or DET to be humiliated in shame. Don't care who.

I just want the Packers to get the Panthers and the Seahawks to have to play a decent team (Detroit).

Carolina's won 5 in a row, not really fair to imply they aren't decent. They're every bit as likely to win in Seattle as Detroit is, IMO.

I don't think it's splitting hairs to think the Packers conference title odds playing CAR then winner of DET/SEA >> playing DAL then winner of CAR/SEA.

I was referring more to your implication that Carolina wasn't decent and that Detroit is more formidable for Seattle. Of course I agree that playing Dallas would be tougher than Carolina.

Fair enough. In my opinion the Lions are still a much better opponent than the Panthers even if the Panthers match up well with Seattle. But it's just an opinion.

Between Greg Hardy's domestic violence conviction/appeal/etc, Cam getting into a car crash that effed up his back, and now Ron Rivera dealing with a freaking house fire, this has been a strange off-field season for Carolina.

The Ravens are so boring. How the [expletive] are they this good?

Superior coaching and great talent evaluators, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

How the hell do you not account for the RB there? Looked like something the Bears defense would do.

Would do? Or did several times over the last 2 years?

Insane how they keep losing offensive coordinators yet their offense gets better each time. From Cameron to Caldwell to Kubiak. Not to mention, they've had Pagano, Rex Ryan, Hue Jackson, and Greg Mattison as DCs over the last 8 years.

Tells me they know how to hire coaches.

To me, it looks like both the Ravens and Pats run systems with specific roles that are very, very well defined. The cohesion at the top (Harbaugh and BB) allows the personnel managers to acquire players suited for those specific roles. For the Ravens, that approach looks more obvious (at least to me) on the defensive side of the ball.

Moreover, both teams seem more concerned with quality depth on offense as opposed to superstars who eat up the majority of their cap. I'm not suggesting that you can't win with superstar WR's and RB's and highly paid OL's, but neither Brady or Flacco are surrounded by any, except maybe Gronk.

So the selfless DB tries to swat the ball down but actually ends up launching it for anyone to catch softly.

which is why trying to swat the ball down is a dumb idea.

Flacco from his heels

Terrible decision to take that risk at a critical juncture. Unlike him as far as I know.

He should have at least tried to look off the safety. Geez.
