Was anyone else even thinking about hiring the dude? How was he not a complete, bounced ten feet in front of the plate curveball?

Colts apparently were very close to hiring him before hiring Pagano. Unclear who backed out at the end but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to Indy.

Cleveland showed interest in 2013 but not sure they actually got a chance to interview him or not.

Trestman was similar to hiring most college coaches. He had NFL coordinator experience and head coaching experience with a lot of success, albeit at a different level. The biggest issue I had was that he was getting into the NFL as a head coach much later than typical college coaches do. He was 56 when hired. Harbaugh, Schiano, Chip Kelly were all in their 40s when hired from college. The only older college coach to really have success off the top of my head is Pete Carroll.

Even back to Jimmy Johnson, who was in his 40s when he went to Dallas and had tons of success, then they went to 57 year old Switzer who failed.

I'm not sure how much Trestmans age was a factor, but at least with college coaches you've been around the players who are about becoming the next wave of the NFL.

The only comparison to college is if he was a lower division college coach. He was in Canada for a long time and not coaching quality athletes, coaching against elite athletes or even coaching under the same set of rules. It's a different game, and I think that has showed up in how poorly coached this team is in terms of penalties and special teams stupidity. There is no attention to detail.

I thought he did Monday night. But he didn't get charged with one when he clearly blew a block.

I think they blamed Forte for that.

Also sweet play calling, Trestman.

Clausen providing the spark Jay couldn't provide by throwing conservative WR screens

And coaxing Martellus Bennett drops.

Only the bears. That only happens to the [expletive] bears.

Not that i care right now.

Not that I want them to win but even the worst teams rise up and attempt to play spoiler at least once down the stretch (like the Redskins yesterday). The bears might be too dead to even do that. 4 straight games against playoff teams (most likely), 3 at home and so far 3 blowouts and one that looks to be in the beginning stages of a 4th.
