Your argument is that Phillips is meaningless and always has been. So why do you give a flying [expletive] about Phillips at all?

Never quite said meaningless. I do find the hiring, evaluating, retaining, and extending of a GM a pretty big responsibility.

Which is why Accorsi was hired. McCaskey didn't trust Phillips to do it on his own.

Yes I am glad he didn't go on his own this time. But didn't this panel existed three years ago? I think a more formal departure of his power would have been reasonable based on the results since 06. He kind of pegged his performance to Emery much in the same way Emery did to Trestman.

Ted Phillips is not the new Michael McCaskey. Stop it with the paranoid ramblings.

Michael McCaskey? Wasn't he just a failed president who briefly became chairman before shuffled out entirely?

Been thinking about this, and given that Pace is apparently better at finding offensive talent (and that is where the strength of our roster presently lies), I'm not sure I hate the idea of bringing in Bowles to fix the defense with scheme (as well as obviously some input in personnel). At least, as long as the OC isn't a complete moron. Bowles has gotten a lot of credit for the AZ defense performing even when losing guys to injury and such.

On the drive home today I was listening to local Arizona sports radio. Mike Jurecki, who is probably the main Cardinals insider said that he has heard that if Bowles gets a HC job, he will most likely be bringing Greg Roman on as his offensive coordinator.

I would not be a fan of that move.

If it's anything like san Francisco, it would regress Cutler and Forte.

How so

Runs the power running game, horrible in game play caller, changed their offensive style to 3 WR sets and shorter passes which killed the offense and Kaps production. He's not a QB that throws to a spot before the WR breaks him route which Cutler struggles with.

Look at their regression, Forte at this stage can not handle the load Gore in that style of offense.

Ah, ok. I know next to nothing about Roman or the SF offense and how it changed under him. I simply assumed a regression from Kaepernick

@MMehtaNYDN Sources: Dan Quinn wants to be next Jets HC... & he wants Kyle Shanahan to be OC & Mark Dominik in front office. #nyj

Sooooo...I guess that eliminates Rex if he wasn't already...

When Rex Ryan is asked who his offensive coordinator will be as HC, 1 of his strongest pitches includes Marc Trestman. They want to pair up.

Quinn must not like himself very much.

In related news, Trestman is known to take excellent care of his feet.

So who are everyone's preferred HC choices at this point?

Bowles

I was going to say this. As long as the AZ radio rumor about Greg Roman coming with as his OC isn't true.

Dick LeBeau resigned, but mentioned that he isn't retiring.

Kubiak

From day one.

I love Bowles but don't like Roman, his rumored OC.

I think Quinn is OK (may not be ready), but don't like his rumored OC, Kyle Shanahan.

I'm fine with Kubiak and he may be the best of all worlds (experience, some familiarity with a previously successful Cutler offense, not old and/or terrible)

But I'm starting to open my eyes to Teryl Austin. Seems like the Pace of head coaching candidates. Quietly part of 3 Superbowl teams. Only 1 season as a coordinator, but people he's worked with speak highly of him.
