Illinois fans suck. They only support really good teams, and then not that great. What coach or recruits would want to come to that.

It's sad because Illinois, historically, has a great football tradition

I know. I go to more games than most Illinois fans I know. Another problem they have around here is they constantly degrade Chicago about everything, then scratch their heads when the best football and basketball players from the Chicago area don't come to Champaign.

I think most fans were just frustrated when they let Zook go for making a bowl, and then Beckman took over and won 1 B1G game in two years and finished last in the B1G in recruiting the past two years, meaning he did neither recruiting nor results right. It's honestly a shock that the team is bowl-eligible this year, but that's largely on how terrible the conference is this year than how well the Illini played, despite today being their best performance of the season by far, especially on defense.

USC, a mediocre football team, is going to beat Notre Dame by 31. But, you know, injuries. Not Kelly's fault. Injuries.

Our first 22 has as much NFL talent as anyone but we have a mediocre coach.

I can't decide who I dislike more - our moronic fan base for excusing this incompetence, or the national media for acting like suggesting Brian Kelly is a mediocre football coach is sacrilegious.

Illinois last two bowl teams will also be the teams that have gotten the last two coaches fired

If Dabo isn't lying, shouldn't this be a fireable offense?

@LarryWilliamsTI: Deshaun Watson played today with a torn ACL suffered in practice two days before the Georgia State game, Dabo Swinney said.

while i agree with your thesis, your supporting information makes no sense.

Illinois fans only support really good teams, but not if they're too good? any illini coach is going to have to win first before people come back, and if your team is as bad as Illinois has been, you really can't blame them.

They are terrible fans, though, but not because they don't like to see a bad product.

I hate that the selection committee will consider that injury when it comes to selecting ohio state.

There's a decent chance it won't matter anyway.

So is Illinois really going to fire their HC after he's gotten them bowl eligible this year?

i'd be very surprised if they fired Beckman. Why on earth would Mike Thomas wait it out through the bad times just to fire him when things start to look up?

because, well, you know, downstate illinois folks are just the absolute worst kind of people.

Are you talking specifically football fans? Our basketball fans support the team pretty well.

Minnesota punting down 10 with 3:30 left is confusing. I know they're deep in their own zone but still. One score I could see but not two.

I'm not the biggest Brian Kelly fan, but the injuries/suspensions have destroyed this team.

USC dressed fewer scholarship players then ND did today. And backups should be good enough to beat Northwestern and lose by less than 35 to USC. Even Ty Willingham didn't lose by 35 to USC, and those teams were breaking every NCAA rule in sight.

If Auburn does us all a favor. But in all fairness of the 4th spot comes down to TCU, Baylor, and OSU the injury should be a part of the selection committees decision.
