A one-year guy, but a true #1 starter - no caveats there. What would the cost in prospects be, and would they try and extend him first?

It's hard to go down this road too much and not seem like a total homer, but at the same time, you're getting one year of Zimmermann and he's making 16.5 million.

I agree, I just have to think that's what Nats would want considering they're a contending team and they have a middle infield need.

Sounds good to me.

 

If we're out of it at the deadline, shop him. If not, let him walk after the season and the draft pick compensation should help to offset the cost we paid to acquire him.

 

I have to imagine that even after his disastrous year, Masterson gets more than $1M though. Either way, I'd still have a lot of interest there if the price is right.
