That seems the obvious answer, but iirc, the Mariners don't want to trade Walker for Upton. They may have changes their minds, we'll see.

He's had a bunch of injuries, the hope is that once healthy(and possibly with the benefit of a part time role), he'd return to be the above average player he was a few years back. Definitely a gamble.

I rather get Seth Smith who can actually hit. The only advantage to Maybin is that he plays CF.

I still like Venable even after last year. Probably more than Maybin at this point.

I prefer Smith for sure - I'd push hard for him. But despite his awful season, Venable might not be a bad buy low option. Can play all three positions decently or better, historically pretty good away from Petco and against RHP.
