Kiley has another IFA update coming later this week and indicated Cubs fans would be pleased.

http://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx?draft=2015int&type=0&pos=all&sort=0,d

He has the Cubs signing the following players, with a projected bonus:

18. Aramis Ademan, SS, Dominican Republic - $2,000,000

23. Christopher Martinez, 3B, Dominican Republic - $1,500,000

21. Yonathan Perlaza, SS, Venezuela - $1,200,000

31. Jonathan Sierra, RF, Dominican Republic - $1,200,000

35. Miguel Amaya, C, Panama - $1,200,000

39. Anderson Amarista, RHP, Venezuela - $1,200,000

41. Yunior Perez, RHP, Dominican Republic - $650,000

NR Luis Diaz, SS, Dominican Republic - $350,000

He has the Dodgers signing Lucious Fox for $5.5 million (!) and doesn't have a team yet for Cuban defector Julio Martinez.

So he has them signing a whole bunch of "good" prospects but not in on any of the elite? That seems pretty cool to me.

There are some differences in rankings between the various prospect guys, so the Cubs might think they're getting someone closer to the elite level. Their top bonus is tied for 8th highest amongst non-Cuban bonuses (and that's a guy Kiley McDaniel has 18th and Jesse Sanchez has 16th; of course IFA bonuses rarely match true talent ability since there's so much additional stuff going on there):

Ademan - McDaniel: 18, Sanchez: 16

Perlaza - 21, 9

Sierra - 31, 13

Amaya - 35, 23

Martinez - 23, 25

Amarista - 39, 20

It seems like Martinez is an inevitability type thing than it being a true done deal, at least. We need to get one of him, Ruiz, or Gutierrez to make it worthwhile to pass up the following class, in my mind. Maybe another couple of decent non-Cubans as well.

The Dodgers getting literally anyone they want is just another reason they'll come to the conclusion that a draft is needed. And as bad as they messed up IFA's with the past CBA, I can't wait to see how bad the mess up the next one.

Yeah, I get the feeling that a few of the projections on Kiley's list aren't necessarily done deals, and more of his best guesses based on current info. On Twitter, he indicates that there are still other teams pursuing Lucius Fox as well.

Well, unlike other non-Cuban IFAs, Lucius Fox just became eligible recently. I'm sure that gives teams hope there's a chance he's not as set in stone as the others.

Looks like we missed(or Kiley most likely added later) LHP Brailyn Marquez with us at 600K. He's 6'3, 175 with 87-91 velo at 16. Love the projectability guys we go after....

Pitifully, the question has to be asked if going after one of Martinez, Gutierrez, or Ruiz cuts into the ability to add a Hamels or someone else that has a relatively high salary at the deadline? I can't imagine Theo set aside THAT much IFA money, when these Cubans hadn't defected at the time of budgeting out the payroll.

It seems smart as hell to me. There's already reports of up to 5 teams going all in next year. No one's getting Maitan at any semblance of a bargain and teams will be unafraid to go big on him if they're busting their pools anyway. We've got 9 guys right now at 9.9 mill, according to Kiley. That's a damn impressive haul and I trust our scouts/FO much more than I do rankings put out by publications. Especially on players as volatile as 16 year olds. Not to mention, the rankings get skewed a ton by guys committing extremely early, then not showing up to anything but required showcases. Take the rankings with a grain of salt, concentrate on the monetary outlay. Not to mention, we're not even out on the Cubans, Kiley just figures that's where they'll all go. I hope we do more obviously, but I have little issue on taking this class over next year, based on going all in on a guy or two, that their handlers may be steering them somewhere else anyway.

I could see Fox or Martinez not winding up with the Dodgers, I kind of doubt those agreements are in place, it's just speculation by the fact the Dodgers are going to spend a ton.

Personally, I want one of Ruiz, Sierra, or Gutierrez more myself and figure one of them has the better chance of making it past the Dodgers anyway. Ruiz would be my top choice, but I figure that since Sierra is not rookie pool eligible, he's the guy we'd have the best shot at.

Another update from Kiley brings more Cubs....

RF Vinicio Martinez for 700k

1B Gwang Min Kwon for 600k

RHP Wen Hua Sung for 1.250(Boras client,87-91,tops out at 92)

Kwon is South Korean and Sung is Taiwanese. Both are 18. Sung is 29th on Kiley's board now.

At any rate, it's now 12 guys at 12.450, if the numbers are correct.

Listened to Kiley's podcast and he seemed much more assured the Dodgers would get EJM and Fox. Mentioned there were 7 more Cubans waiting for one more letter to become completely eligible, that would all be ranked by him. 5 of which will likely get between 2-7 mill. Said he'd expect the Dodgers to get half of them. Which is insane, but it at least gives the Cubs a shot at some of them.

So Sanchez and Kiley now both have Fox going to the Giants....Hell, maybe Martinez could still be had? Or losing Fox makes the Dodgers give him 20 mill more than anyone else.

BA says we will be signing a Venezuelan outfielder named Jose Gutierrez for close to $1m. One of the highest bonuses for a Venezuelan player this year. However he doesn't appear on KM sortable board.

They also refer to a number of other players that will sign (for other teams) for over $300,000 that are not on KM's board.

It's like waking up on Christmas morning to a stocking full of Ewoks, Droids, and maybe Bosque which is cool, but it's still OK to hope that gramma gets us the Falcon tonight.

And I don't know about Lucious Fox, but he sounds like he should be played by Samual L. Jackson.
