btw if you think my interpretation is bad, check out the comments for all the YAY SPEED! STOLEN BASES! guys who think Maddon is going to bring us small ball (which they'll love every second of). SMH.

I'm to the point that I prefer to that BN commenters just catching up to 2003 SABR and ripping their eyes out every time somebody attempts a bunt.

Wasn't just there. The crazed outrage at Ricky's bunts (they admittedly were excessive at times - and I think there was one game in particular where I freaked- but most of the time were justifiable) early this season here was pretty funny.

Bunts lick butts just because they are either a reminder that I'm watching a terrible hitter who should not be playing baseball or that the stupid NL still hasn't the adopted the DH. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THEY ARE EVER GOOD.

tim please change my name to "Bunts Lick Butts" b/c those are the most amazing three words I've ever read.

It sure as hell looked to me like he advocated small ball and questioned the take-and-rake "get the pitcher out early" method we've been building on.

And I think he might be right.

I don't really think these guys have built a take and rake get the pitcher out early method. Their very first draft pick was absolutely nothing like that. The closest thing they have to such a player is Bryant, and he was a no brainer best college bat pick they had to take, rather than some specific type they targeted.

I also don't buy the simple "bullpens are now so amazing" storyline espoused earlier.

No, I want it as my status.

Bwahahahhahaha

I'm thoughtful like that.

I think he's a smart guy who realizes that, in general, if baseball is going the way it is, small ball makes sense, but if you have the types of hitters to play a different, better/more productive way, then you don't have to do that.

apparently the sox have superstars already in abreu and sale while the cubs can only hope of having some of their young kids reach that level. and the cubs prospects are all "cub prospect hype factor."

oh, and "As long as the Cubs'ownership promotes Wrigley Field as a tourist destination, the Cubs will not be a Championship team."

If I cared about the White Sox at all, WSI would be so much more amazing. I wish GRB wasn't so rational.

i'm sure there are more than enough meatball cardinal sites out there. WSI is on a special level of dumb, though.

That message board is a snapshot of the Sox fanbase as a whole. They always have had an inferiority complex with the Cubs, even after winning in 2005.
