@AdamHoge: Cutler said he canceled his radio show Monday because his son had a doctors appointment. “It was out of my hands."

Not quite the hospital so not good enough, right?

lol seriously a weak excuse, come on.

omgz he couldnt have just done the show later in the day? we gotta run this bozo out of town already.

he couldn't have scheduled this doctors appointment when he didn't have a radio show to do? he didn't know about this appointment until the morning of, which happened the be the day after a bunch of controversy related to his team happened? his wife, who half the time seems to be in attendance at the show, couldn't have taken the kid to a doctor's appointment?

should have come up with a better excuse.

Okay, stop with the tipping point character.

Hey, it's not his fault; sometimes kids just get the measles. I don't see what Jay could have possibly done to avoid that.

i'm not mad at him for it. i just think he did a shitty job at making up an excuse.

well yeah i think the excuse is silly. He would have been better off just not giving an excuse, he didnt owe one to anyone.

Okay then, in response to your idiotic stance.

A) The radio show is a pointless waste of time and skipping it should not require an explanation.

B) Not all doctors visits for young children are scheduled far in advance.

C) Not all doctors visits for young children are scheduled around dad's pointless side gig.

D) Not all fathers are heartless robots and some actually want to participate and will attend such an appointment.

E) Jay's wife has a career as well.

F) The radio show is a pointless waste of time and skipping it should not require an explanation and people who get at all worked up about him missing this pointless exercise are completely psychotic.

I believe it was a perfectly reasonable excuse to offer up to braindead people that think they deserved one and that you are a clueless robot that spouted off every HOT SPORTS TAKE about a player missing an "obligation" for stupid family stuff.

my point isn't that those are fair arguments. it's that they are easily made and i don't want him giving these idiots ready made ammunition for more obnoxious jay bashing. those hot takes are the exact reason why it's not a reasonable excuse to offer up to those people. they're the ones that use them.

and it doesn't really take much critical thinking ability to think that that is more likely than not a lie. he should've just said nothing, whether it's true or not.

i [expletive] love jay are you kidding me right now?

and seriously, the robot thing is hilariously dumb. especially coming from the dude who tries to turn every two words into an argument. you're like an arguing computer that argues things.

Kid gets sick overnight on Sunday night...call Monday morning to get into the doctor...can't get in till 2:00...Cancel needless radio show.

As a parent that has taken a sick kid to the doctor on a number of occasions, this is an extremely likely scenario. My son seems to get something every fall and spring when the temperature changes start. In fact he woke up sounding pretty stuffed up this morning and I'm half expecting a sick kid this weekend.

I only listened to 1000 for a couple minutes on Tuesday, but they mentioned that Jay has a contractual obligation to do that monday show. Obviously anyone who thinks he's unfit to be QB because of missing it already had their mind made up, but I don't blame the radio guys themselves for being upset in that case, especially since they tweaked it so that he's only doing half as many appearances this year.

Contractual obligation. What are they gonna do, not let him be on the radio anymore?

Extremely likely?

As a parent, about how many days a year do you think would be around the expectation level for having to take your kid to the doctor unexpectedly?

Serious robot question.

Not pay him what they've referred to on the radio as a "handsome" amount, which is probably still pretty insignificant to him.

Honestly, depends on the kid. My bro-in-laws kids are seemingly sick constantly. My son, a couple times a year maybe? But this the right time of year for him. There's no right answer to your question.

The arguments against Jay are pretty dumb. We find it nearly impossible to get a good time for a trip to the pediatric. Jay is probably no different

It's either legitimate or made up by him & the team. Figured as much, though I'm sure you and I can have a hard time getting dinner reservations as well. Cutler, not so much. Pretty sure famous people get into the doctor pretty much whenever they want and/or just have a concierge doctor come to their house.

Story is over, though, as there's no way you can know he's lying or telling the truth. Let's hope he continues being on ESPN1000 because it's a pretty enjoyable segment whenever he's on. Also, let's hope for another @San Francisco type performance from him this week.
