Week 8: Bears (3-4) @ Patriots (5-2) Noon Fox/780

I only listened to 1000 for a couple minutes on Tuesday, but they mentioned that Jay has a contractual obligation to do that monday show. Obviously anyone who thinks he's unfit to be QB because of missing it already had their mind made up, but I don't blame the radio guys themselves for being upset in that case, especially since they tweaked it so that he's only doing half as many appearances this year.

Contractual obligation. What are they gonna do, not let him be on the radio anymore?

From the little that I've paid attention to the ordeal, it sounds like they're gonna call him out on it, which is really the only thing they can do. I have no idea if Cutler had a legit reason to miss it or not, I don't particularly care either way. I did hear a chunk of his last appearance though, and given that he was nearly openly mocking fans asking him (terrible) questions in person, and his beloved 'don't care' persona, it wouldn't surprise me one bit that after Sunday's debacle that he woke up and decided he had to find a way not to go do the show and deal with all the moronic fan questions. That doesn't make a bit of difference about him as a football player, but people(especially the radio guys invested in his performance) wouldn't be wrong to call it a dick move.

Kid gets sick overnight on Sunday night...call Monday morning to get into the doctor...can't get in till 2:00...Cancel needless radio show.

As a parent that has taken a sick kid to the doctor on a number of occasions, this is an extremely likely scenario. My son seems to get something every fall and spring when the temperature changes start. In fact he woke up sounding pretty stuffed up this morning and I'm half expecting a sick kid this weekend.

Extremely likely?

As a parent, about how many days a year do you think would be around the expectation level for having to take your kid to the doctor unexpectedly?

Serious robot question.

Honestly, depends on the kid. My bro-in-laws kids are seemingly sick constantly. My son, a couple times a year maybe? But this the right time of year for him. There's no right answer to your question.

Our daughter had multiple MRI trips when she was younger, the docs were watching a spot on her brain. It was scary [expletive], but those appointments as well as the follow ups with docs/neurologists/auxiliary testing were impossible to schedule and immovable. We would know 6 mns in advance of each appt. thank god it turned put to be nothing, and I realize that it's an extreme example, but doc appts with any specialist for kids tend to be pretty rigid. She also has allergies to things like peanut butter. The allergist is impossible to see as well. Who knows, maybe jay blew off the show because it was a tough Sunday. Maybe he used a simple doc visit that truly existed as an excuse. Maybe it was completely unmovable. It's pretty meatheadish to sit around calling for his head when you really don't know

I get why the radio guys are mad...and they have every right to be...and they might give him some crap about it, but I imagine Jay will just "don't care" it to death. And really, the radio guys need him too bad to be too rough.

Not pay him what they've referred to on the radio as a "handsome" amount, which is probably still pretty insignificant to him.

Well also the people he's offending are the local sports media, who have historically been ruthless to people they don't like.

Again, I don't care that he skipped a stupid radio show, just pointing out there is more at stake that side money for him. But I don't think Jay cares.

Plus, it's [expletive] sports talk radio. No one should be sad to miss that crap

You're not wrong, but Jay is pretty good when he's on.

God, wasn't that [expletive] glorious?

It was the main reason I was disappointed there was no show on Monday.

Not especially, it's only.

The only people that should care are the hosts who lost their guest.

jay: {audible siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhhhh} "uhhhhh gooodness"

{guy rambles on about his fantasy team}

jay: {doesn't answer, implies about moving on to the next question}

that segment there might have been my favorite part of any of his shows.

I appreciate what you are saying because I've had a similar experience. That's not how things work for the QB of the Bears. The Bears have a pediatrician. The Bears could get Jays pediatrician, or any pediatrician to Halas hall and do this appointment at any time. You know Minnesota that jay didn't do this show because he didn't want to deal with the [expletive].

I don't care that he blew off the show. I don't understand why he would do I in the first place. What could 1000 possibly pay him that would make this even worthwhile. He clears millions of dollars.

that's surprising

[expletive] packer fan played the Cutler-yelled-at-his-OLine card on me today. Cutler will always fail because of this, and all of Wisconsin rejoiced when we resigned him.

[expletive] [expletive] fuckity [expletive] my life up here sometimes.

This was a cab driver. I was [expletive] trapped for 30 [expletive] minutes and then had to pay him [expletive] 30 bucks.

4. Cutler said he missed his Monday radio show because he had to take his son to the doctor.

“It’s almost easier to do the radio show and just get it out of the way after a loss,” Cutler said. “Some of these questions you don’t have to answer on Thursday. It was out of my hands. It had nothing to do with what’s happened or what happened on Sunday. I’ve done a few radio shows after losses and it usually goes pretty easily.”

As someone who also missed his radio show this week because he was taking his son to the doctor, I can tell you that’s a valid reason, as long as it’s true.
