If Bryant isn't the #1 prospect then there is no #1.

When he whips out the dongs in MLB these people are going to be embarrassed.

You know, I really don't have an issue if Bryant is #1 (leaving aside the usual note that rankings really are more for discussion purposes than anything else). He has a key enough issue that is apparent enough that I can buy a case for Buxton if you assume he comes back without any concerns. I can even buy a case for Russell. (Lindor, I absolutely have an issue with, while Correa just seems a step enough behind Russell that it would be hard to justify for me).

In saying all that, I do think Bryant is #1 (Buxton wasn't lighting it up pre-injury, IIRC ... what was it, concussion? ... and Russell had enough areas of concern after the trade that it'd be hard to jump him over Bryant). I just don't have a huge issue that some feel otherwise (I mean ... the Buxton of last year ... if he continued progressing on that route and slowly started tapping into his power more ... that would've been a monster of a prospect in a year or two).

To be honest I think I probably have Bryant right around #5 in my personal list behind Corey Seager,Carlos Correa,Addison Russell and perhaps Buxton. None of them have a glaring weakness like Bryant and they all play a position higher up the defensive spectrum.

Don't forget Lindor

Carlos Santana + 20 homers.

Honestly, in this offensive environment, I'd be completely fine if he just turned into the Carlos Santana of the last 2 years and could stick at 3B with average-above average defense. That would probably be a 4-5 win player.

Fangraphs top 200 is out, Cubs have 11. Looks like McDaniel put a ridiculous amount of work into this. Individual profile videos and everything.

I think he pulled most of this work from the individual team profiles, but that's still his work, so yeah....pretty impressive.

Taking my time through the list, but so far:

1. Bryant

2. Buxton

3. Russell

4. Urias

13. Soler

21. Schwarbs

64. Edwards

92. Almora

124. Underwood

125. Johnson

142-200. (Didn't list individual numbers): Vogelbach, McKinney, Torres

He gives the Cubs 4 guys with 60+ FP. 12 teams only have one, another 10 teams don't have any.

Prospects in the Top 20

Cubs: 4

Dodgers: 3

Rest of National League combined: 4

Baseball America doesn't have Armando Rivero in the Cubs' Top 30, which I found rather baffling.

On the plus side, here's the top 50 rankings of Cub prospects by the BA writers:

Badler: Bryant 2, Russell 3, Soler 4, Schwarber 15

JJ Cooper: Bryant 1, Russell 4, Soler 13, Schwarber 28, Edwards 45

Matt Eddy: Bryant 3, Russell 4, Soler 15, Schwarber 23, Edwards 40

John Manuel: Bryant 1, Russell 3, Soler 10, Schwarber 21, Edwards 35

Seems like a pretty massive difference of opinion between BA and BP/Keith Law on Schwarber and Edwards. Kiley McDaniel has Schwarber 21 and Edwards 64.
