I guess you didn't watch that game and what led up to it? Daniel Sedin tried to take Keith's head out right before that.

Duncan Keith can lose his cool from time to time but calling him dirty is laughable

I guess you didn't take kindergarten where they taught that two wrongs don't make a right?

That's what dirty players always do. They have some previous slight they use to justify it. It's a never-ending circle of retribution.

Kindergarden? You are starting to sound like you graduated from there 5 years ago.

Watch some more hockey and you will know the difference between Keith and someone who actually is a dirty player.

I watch every bit as much hockey as anybody here. I'm just capable of not being a homer about it. Ask fans of 29 other teams who the dirtiest Hawks are, and they'll tell you Carcillo and Keith. But they're all just wrong and we're the objective ones...

The "oh man, you must not watch the games if you disagree with me" argument is one of the worst, dumbest facets of hockey fandom.

This beef is stupid. 'Ask fans of 29 other teams,' who really cares? Using the 'majority rules' card on a fan forum doesn't automatically grant you internet victory. We can use that reasoning all day long in a giant circle leading nowhere. The debate over whether Keith brings more value/skill to the Hawks versus a turd like Reaves or Ott really isn't one. Keith is going to have a long and widely successful career at being one of the best at his position. He's one of the Hawks most important players. Reaves going on the radio and talking revenge automatically makes him the king of turds.

Keith is hardly a dirty player. He's done a couple things that were stupid, most notable in my mind is the high sticking he had vs the Kings. Maybe you're watching the games but you need a new TV.

So I believe if the Flames beat the Kings in regulation tonight, LA is out. If the Kings gain 1 point today, then the Jets need 1 point to eliminate them (because the Jets would lose the tiebreaker to LA)

Shaw's worse than Keith. Not only is he an insufferable goon, but he usually ends up hurting the Hawks far more than helping them. I don't really get why the meatballs like the guy, but I won't miss him at all if he's dealt after this year.

"Asking 29 other team fans" argument is dumb, so is clinging on to the "two wrongs don't make it right argument"

The original topic was about a goon like Reaves and what he brings to the game. Not sure why you would bring Duncan Keith into it.

Yeah LA could be eliminated tonight. First time since the 2006 Hurricanes a team did not return to the playoffs the following year to defend their cup.

Here is a video of Sedin going after Keith right before that

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22wQYhn1bhA

1) a high shoulder isn't in the same universe as an elbow to the head

2) I bet you 8 million imaginary internet dollars that Sedin would reference something Keith did before that as his excuse for being a dirty little tool.

3) Two wrongs still don't make a right

The main thing I didn't like about that incident is Keith's taunting afterwards, especially because its an obvious head injury.

That said, I'm sure taunting like this happens all the time, even from guys you would generally consider "good guys", but this one just happened to be caught by a mic.

I think Keith is a top 5 defenseman in the game and probably one of the two or three most important players on the Hawks. That being said, I think there's a lot of 'tool' in him. There's the hit to Sedin that has been widely discussed, and then his play on Carter that was mentioned, which I think is borderline worse just in it's recklessness and how it was blatantly not a hockey play. Throw in the sexist remarks he had a few years back (

at the end), along with the "Wakey wakey" to Backes last year, and maybe he's not Ryan Reaves, but I wouldn't call him a great guy.

At the end of the day though, I'm guessing most professional athletes aren't. Just don't seriously injure anyone, which he hasn't yet, and as long as you perform, I'm willing to give it a pass. Considering Bobby Hull has pro-Nazi comments and several domestic abuse incidents on his record and he's got his number hanging, it's just kinda how it is. And not just with the Hawks.

Jesus Harold Christ - Roszival is AWFUL

He would be great if the point of hockey was to turn the puck over in your own zone.

I have no idea what to make of this team. They could win the Cup or they could get swept in the first round.

Kane should win the Hart because of how terrible the offense is without him.

We're pretty good but not great, and there's three other teams that fit that exact description in our division. So yep, anything could happen.

Unfortunately, I think this team is a one and done team with how they're playing.

They may face Nashville in the first round, but they can also end up facing the blues. They could also end up facing the Ducks.

Blues have clinched the division and can still win the conference. Blues play the Wild, Hawks play the Avs, Ducks play the Coyotes.

Blackhawks play the Blues if:

Wild win and the Hawks lose in regulation. (Wild and Hawks end up with 102 points, Wild hold tie break)

Blackhawks play Nashville if:

Hawks win or go to OT or the Wild lose.

Blackhawks play Anaheim if:

Anaheim and the Hawks lose in Regulation, St Louis goes to OT with Wild but the Wild get the second point.

I'm betting the Hawks end up playing the [expletive] Blues.

i'm curious about what st. louis will bring against minnesota in that final game.

How important is goal differential as a predictor for the playoffs?

If so, despite everything the Hawks have the 2nd best GD in the West at +41 (St Louis is at +45) and the 4th best in the league. And despite the terrible defensive play at times, the Hawks are tied with Montreal for the Jennings trophy with 1 game to play.

The problem is the offense, which is 5th out of 7th in their own division in goals scored, and tied for 8th in the West (and right in the middle - 15th in the league).

The good news is that despite the struggles, the core of the Hawks is much better than their play this year. If we can get Kane back in the 2nd round (sorry I'll believe the 1st round talk when I see it), we should get a much needed boost.

Goal differential of Stanley Cup Champions since 2010

2014 Kings +32 ranked 7th

2013 Hawks +53 ranked 1st

2012 Kings +15 ranked 9th

2011 Bruins +51 ranked 2nd they beat the #1 team Canucks

2010 Hawks +62 ranked 2nd

I know there is next to no chance of the Hawks playing the Ducks but if that happened and you got thru that, you would have a second round against one of Vancouver and Calgary. Then get to take on the tired winner of the Central.
