I think this has more to do with giving Richards time with at least 1 creative forward (TT) and punishing Versteeg for being DAM.MIT VERSTEEG too much lately. Come playoffs, when Kane gets back Versteeg might be an option on that 4th line. So Shaw is just the beneficiary of seeing how things work out on those other lines.

Yup...they havent looked good at all the last 3 games, 4-0 loss to Dallas, 3-1 win over Carolina that everyone says they looked terrible in (missed that one) and 4-1 loss to Philly. 3 teams that are not going to sniff the playoffs and we looked bad in all 3.

 

Of course they were 6-1-0 in the 7 games prior so who knows whats going on with the team. Last year they slumped a little to the finish and were a bad bounce away from likely winning the Cup.

Part of me would love the embarrassment of LA missing the playoffs but I would also love a path of defeating LA in the WCF then defeating whomever from the East.

I saw Boynton on tv recently I thought as a color guy for maybe the Coyotes? He was on the ice for the winning goal against Philly I think.

Hawks should be able to win against BUF, COL, and VAN. It's the Minnesota and St Louis games that are critical.

 

St Louis gets Calgary and Dallas, but then have to play the 3 of the other central teams 4 times to end the season (but end with 3 at home).

 

Nashville only has 5 games left, and should end up taking the number 1 spot since of there last 5, only 2 are against playoff teams

 

Minnesota probably has the hardest last 6, facing 6 playoff teams, including ending with 3 on the road against central foes.

 

The Jets also have a tough stretch, but get to end against Colorado and Calgary, but Calgary could be fighting for the last spot in the Pacific then.
