Great win! Those final standing predictions seem spot on. Calgary did just beat Dallas. LA is 3 points back now of the Flames but could also catch Winnipeg

Yup they still have a game in hand on Winnipeg and 2 points behind. I just cannot fathom LA not making the playoffs. They should be in playoff mode right now but they looked terrible tonight.

The Flames and Kings both get a couple easy games in their last games, Flames play the Oilers and Coyotes while the Kings get the Oilers twice. The thing is that the Flames have to play the Blues and Jets while the Kings get Colorado, Vancouver, and end with the Sharks. They play each other on the second to last game of the season. It really will come down to the Kings, Flames, and Jets for the last spot in the Pacific and the last WC.

Technically Dallas and SJ are still in it, but...no they aren't.

Reminds me of this tweet I saw last night:

@DownGoesBrown: “Guys, I’m really starting to think the Kings might not make it.” – Me, probably in mid-May, when they've been out for five weeks.

Kane is skating with the team today, in a no-contact jersey.

Beat folks are suggesting this means an acceleration in his timetable, though it was noted due to the cap he can't come back until the playoffs start.

If he's back for Game 1 of the playoffs, we should all probably be ecstatic about that.

I just cant understand how he'd be ready 3 weeks earlier. This isn't like an ankle spain or something. It's a broken bone healing. If they bring him back and its not 100% fully healed, they are fucked because teams will be looking to check him as much as possible. I understand Kane has historically been a quick healer but even discussing a round 1 return seems very optimistic.

I could see him coming back for round 2 instead of round 3. But I highly doubt round 1. But on the off chance that he comes back for round 1 I am sure there will be cries from people saying the Hawks circumvented the cap with Kane's injury to get Vermette and Timonen.

Maybe but there are multiple cases of broken collarbones and the recovery time required. Kane coming back in round 1 would completely blow those return times away.

Oh I agree. Right now its been five weeks to the day since surgery. Round one starts two weeks from tonight. That would be insanely fast.

None of us are doctors of course (right?), but I'll trust that when they bring him back he's ready and there's no increased risk of injury. Considering the investment they have in him, I expect them to be smart.

That said, start of round two sounds great.

With tonight's win, the Hawks clinch a playoff spot, kept pace with St Louis, gained on Nashville and distanced themselves from Minnesota who lost.

Tonight the Hawks play in Buffalo who might be shooting the puck at their own net. St Louis is in Dallas. Good chance Hawks get to second place after tonight.
