Good game, Hawks carried the play. Got unlucky with the second Tampa goal. Got the 2 points anyway by winning rock, scissors, paper. 3-0 this year, unlike last year where they lost a majority of them.

Watching the Wings/Hawks last night was kind of like watching them play in the Hawks pre-cup years. Except the roles a reversed. The Wings have become a faster team than the Hawks which has not been the case in a long time. Even when the Wings were still the better team the Hawks caused them trouble by playing fast, jumping/gambling in passing lanes and making up for mistakes by strong back-checking and faster defensive players. The Hawks are still the better team without a doubt, Wings do not have enough scorers. But it is kind of fun watching the Wings this year because they do play with a high level of energy and speed most nights, something that was lacking badly until the middle of last season.

 

Last night was the first time this season I have watched more than a period of the Hawks. Versteeg playing on the top line...WTF. Even when he was a solid player in the Hawks first cup run, he was a border line top 6 guy. I think this is a case where Q may be relying too much on a 'safe' veteran than playing someone who has more skill but may make some defensive lapses. Except the safe veteran in this case is really not that safe
