oh hey back in first place.

that was a pretty ridiculous 5 game stretch. you always expect the variance to even out, but not during the hardest part of the schedule.

Per Mark Lazerus, Jeremy Morin has asked to be traded if he's not going to play.

This was hinted at last week and the folks over at Committed Indian have been banging on about it for a long while. They argue that Q doesn't give young guys enough minutes to be effective.

I am not sure. Carcillo has been (inexplicably) really good, so I understand why Q is riding him for now (and that's even relative as he is only getting 8:35 per game). Nordstrom has played quite a bit of late; the third pairing has included TVR, Clendening and Dahlbeck; Saad and Smith are now staples.

I think its more likely that there is something about Morin that Q doesn't like.

Problem with trading Morin is he likely wont get better than a 5th round pick in return. He will be very valuable next year if the cap does not go up or not go up enough. Much more valuable than a 5th round pick. That being said the board of governors are meeting this week and they expect that the cap will be between 72-74 million next year.

The salary cap: This is the annual meeting during which the league gives clubs their first projected number for next season's salary cap. It's a projection, not an exact number, but normally it gives teams enough direction in order to plan ahead for next season. There has been much hand-wringing among some of the bigger-market, high-spending clubs that the salary cap isn't quite going up as much as they thought it was going to, which is leaving them pressed up against the ceiling trying to juggle how to re-sign and keep their core together.

Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin pointed to the uncertainty of the cap when he talked about dealing away Travis Moen and later Rene Bourque, both of whom carry contracts that go beyond this season.

Still, what governors will be told by the league leadership this week is that despite all the concern, as long as there isn't any significant change (downward) in the Canadian dollar between now and June 30, the salary cap next season is projected to be somewhere between $72 million and $74 million, up from the current $69 million. The governors will actually get a more precise figure though a source told ESPN.com it should be in that range.

So pretty to tie the game.

What does this say about Lester's decision. Good for Chicago right?

In all seriousness that was pretty

That Jagr drag move in the OT was sweet too. Fun OT so far.

that was so awesome. part of me almost wanted him to finish it. i can't believe he's still playing.

I was 8 years old when he helped torch the Hawks in the Final. I can't believe that.

Saw something on Twitter that Quenneville played in Jagr's first game. That's almost unfathomable!

Hawks 7 game win streak as propelled them from around 8th in the conference to 2nd, 2 points behind the Ducks. Considering the Hawks are almost certainly treating the regular season like preparation for the playoffs, it's pretty impressive to be right up there.

So Toews might have a concussion? Is that what I'm reading?

Yeah he got blasted into the boards from behind though he sort of turned at the last moment. I think it was Seidenberg. He only got two for it.

And this game is getting very interesting.

Also, Jack Edwards is a jerkoff. Confusing Saad and Shaw all night. Referred to Dahlbeck as Dahlberg and now is calling Darling Crawford.
