Can we just cut Crawford?

It's disturbing when you see how well Darling and Raanta played when he was out. Crawfords contract might cost us Sharp or Seabrook after the year.

That said Crawford wasn't that bad most of the game and hasn't been particularly bad this year.

Raanta played like a wall, I want him starting and go get a third Cup if we have to lose Sharp

You are being ironic, right? It's hard for me to tell. Raanta is a capable back up. Darling could also serve in that capacity.

As for Sharp, that has a lot more to do with raises to other players than it does Crawford. If they can find a taker for Bickell after a good playoff performance, they can keep Sharp and Seabrook at least next year.

1/2 hyperbole and 1/2 feeling really squeamish about Crawford. But yes, I'd clearly rather keep Sharp and Seabrook, in order of who I want to keep:

Seabrook

Sharp

Bickell

hell of a win tonight

definitely...and Nashville only got 1 point tonight so we pull back into a tie for 1st with them (Nash has 1 game in hand)

I know, I know its dumb to care about the standings in January, or like ever if you're a Hawks fan, but it helps me get through the dog days of the season before the playoffs.

It's not dumb at all since this is the part of the season where the Hawks start their lull. That cushion that they have over River Scum and the Jets will come in handy.

He's not playing great, but they also didn't do a great job clearing the front of the net on one or two of those goals. I'd say three of those goals were on him.

Again, not acceptable in the long-run, but I am willing to give Craw some time to figure it out. The Hawks are built the right way - enough talent to mask the fact that they don't have an elite goalie, a commodity that is rare in the League to begin with.

I just feel like maybe Crow is still more hurt than he's letting on? Maybe Darling and Raanta were playing well enough he felt threatened?

And look who was there sacrificing himself again. I hope it works out that Hammer is able to stay and fill that role for the next 10 years. I feel like he will go down as one of those guys who will be beloved by the fan base long after he retires despite not being a hall of famer or even a star.

I wonder if they'll ever change the rules to prevent the goalie from covering the puck that far from his crease. I'm not sure what the current rule is but he's not super close to the blue paint.

That could be part of it.

Crow is much better than Raanta, who gives up his crease way way too much. Darling we really havent seen enough of him yet to say if he is the real deal.

Maybe not threatened so much as feeling guilty/embarrassed by the cause of his injury.

Make that 54. 54 save shutout against the Hawks

Yeah, the Blackhawks played the part of Varlamov's wife last night. Freaking scumbag.

Too soon?

But they were the ones taking all the shots.

Varlamov inexplicably turns into Hasek and Espisito whenever he sees our jerseys.

Not to diminish how he played, but he got lucky too. The disallowed goal, and a couple of pucks that got by him and didn't go in because of quick reactions by defensemen.

But anytime someone gets a 50+ shot shutout, the goalie played damn well.

Just a very mediocre 7-5-1 since our 8 game winning streak.

Bulls are 3-3 since their 7 game winning streak.

Both teams played the majority of those games at home.

Lesson is to not go on winning streaks or play at home?
