Goodell is loving this. It's taking at least some attention off him, at this point. He'll make a stern ruling on Peterson and his own [expletive] will eventually get pushed under the rug.

And I seriously doubt Peterson suits up this week in the end. In fact, I think the only way he suits up ever again, is if he somehow gets acquitted.

I think you might be right, but I think he gets acquitted. He's got a high powered attorney, and Texas is pretty much equivalent to Mordor.

On the one hand, you are allowed to shoot your children for discipline in Texas. On the other hand, black man. But then on the next hand, rich celebrity with lots of cash and the attorney.

Beating the piss out of your children is probably viewed as upholding family values in Texas.

Rusty Hardin got Clemens off, but the pics and AP admitting he went too far in the text messages are going to be hard to overcome.

Possible that Peterson might never play another game in the NFL?

He's playing on Sunday.

The Panthers said Hardy was playing too all week

Whelp....

@mikefreemanNFL

A number of team sources across football believe the Vikings are wavering on playing Adrian Peterson this weekend. We'll see.

that'll happen when all these sponsors are making noise

I have a problem with anhueser buschs grandstanding. They are literally in the vice business. The product they market has probably been the largest contributor to domestic violence and sexual assault in the history of the world. The companies longtime leader, principal shareholder and public face is a confirmed misogynist who killed at least one person (possibly two) and was the benefactor of the sloppiest and most obvious coverup in the history of Crime.

Shut the [expletive] up Busch. You aren't even a real company anymore. You are a foreign subsidiary of a European conglomerate. "Deep concern" are you kidding me? The harm Adrian Peterson has caused society is hilariously insignificant compared to the big machine of anhueser busch gearing up to pound society in the ass. It's a joke they may have a worse environmental record than BP and actively markets to an age demographic that cannot legally purchase their product. And their product sucks and they don't care about that either just The NFLs handling of abuse.

It reminds me of the terrible greenwashing efforts done by so many large companies. I can't really stand anyone giving a big 'Bravo' to AB-InBev and then talking about having some budweiser in celebration of them. All it reflects is that people's feelings on this are strong and important enough to make this action profitable.

Heck, they aren't even pulling advertising. They are trying to differentiate themselves as an upstanding corporate citizen with a statement alone.

@seankjensen: #Vikings issue statement saying Adrian Peterson placed on "Exempt/Commissioner's Permission list,” which means he must stay away from team.

Vikings made this announcement at 12:47 AM Minnesots time.

I love the NFL right now.

I hope the NFLPA fights the AP suspension like they are Ray Rice. I don't know what he could've done in the 24 hours from reinstatement until he was suspended again?

Oddly enough, the Bengals have not been involved yet....

Soooooooooooo..it would be better if they didn't say/do anything?

My irritation was at the reaction of people to the statement and the reverence given to Anheuser by some. Its probably my fault for listening to sports radio for the first time in a year or more.

If the NFL manages to sweep this under the rug and AB-InBev doesn't follow through with any action, it may actually be a bad thing that they issued the statement as it would reinforce the lack of accountability for the NFL. I'll wait and see, but I hope the pressure increases across the board and doesn't back down after another week suspension or something similar.

AP isn't suspended. He's on an exempt list, and is still getting paid. There's nothing for the union to fight. Also, AP agreed to this...his agent says this is the best way to handle it right now...yadda yadda.

Yeah, it is amazing how much they are just making stuff up as they go along. I cannot believe Minnesota thought they could reinstate him without blowback, and then they turnaround and cave to the blowback?

Eh, I'm just giddy to see all of this happen. Don't darken my cloud!

I can't believe they didn't learn from watching the 2 game suspension debacle.

They look like absolute fools with the constant flip-flopping based on what it is seen on the morning news shows.

The NFL got lucky with Minnesota and their typical way of handling things. I hope Minnesota gets blown out (for several reasons), meatball fans get all puffy, Minnesota struggles and caves to those fans wanting him back and then NFL gets to decide whether or not to suspend him and it comes around full circle.

Yeah, that is astounding.

And I don't understand why the NFL has done nothing about AP. Why have they left this to the Vikings? Isn't child abuse a form of domestic violence?

They want to keep their hands clean as long as possible. They should suspend him. It's not up to the individual teams to decide on punishment, it's not like the NCAA and whether or the NCAA agrees with team imposed sanctions.

It should be the story why they haven't suspended Hardy, AP, and McDonald.

The domestic violence policy is triggered only when there is a result of the case. There would have to be a conviction or a plea agreement.

Meanwhile, Ray Rice is appealing his indefinite suspension. Should be the easiest win in the history of mankind. However, it won't matter because he'll be off suspension and watching football at home on his couch. Maybe Minnesota can pick him up.

Yep, he should win that appeal in about 5 minutes

Urlacher resigned from Fox Sports so that he can sign to play for Lovie in Tampa. At least he's off the air now.
