Bears starting middle linebacker did not appear on the stat sheet today. Bears played a lot of nickel but damn.

Yikes.

Jermon Bushrod and Brandon Marshall each had more tackles than DJ Williams.

@AdamHoge: The #Bears played four linebackers on defense today. They combined for 8 tackles.

Every QB makes throws that should be intercepted. Cutler also threw a perfect ball to Forte in the end zone which he dropped. The only positive is that the team most people thought would win the division in GB also lost.

Same old Bears defense?

2013 = 161.4 yards per game, 5.3 yards per carry

Today = 193 yards, 5.8 per carry.

2013= 31 sacks, Today = 1 sack, 1 other QB hit. I read on Twitter that the Bears only blitzed 4 total times today. A team that couldn't get pressure against a QB prone to mistakes, only 4 blitzes and I'm sure they all weren't pass blitzes either.

That said, he nearly threw another in OT.

Holmes slipped

Yes, but that ball was thrown into tight coverage late. That's Jay's thing - instead of throwing one away he will force it.

Also, yes, all QB's throw balls that should be picked. But Jay probably throws one or two more per-game than most for the reason I just discussed above. I'm not hating on Jay; I love Jay. But that's just what you have to live with with him.

Conte's pick was off a blitz; good things happen when you get pressure.

Let's see what happens next week, but I am very concerned by the defensive scheme.

On the plus side, assuming Jeffrey's hamstring is okay, SF lost both starting CBs today, and most of SF's points came on idiotic play from America's Saddest QB

True, though Kapernick looked pretty good and has torn us up in the past.

It made me laugh when Johnston was complimenting the run support that Jennings and Tillman provide. What choice do they have?

That's true; the defense (which I thought was okay today, honestly, despite all the yards rushing) is going to have to find a way to contain him.

But I do think we can put up points on them.

Watch Buffalo finish 10-6 and in the playoffs.

That would be better actually.

As it stands, I'm assuming we just lost to a 6-10 team at home today. A disaster.

When did Eli Manning join DAL or SF?

Aside from the fact that he's a pretty tragic hero, Shruggy McScramble looked completely forlorn after his 2nd pick. Or 3rd, I can't recall.

Eli just looks like he'd rather be playing squash.

They weren't ok. Have to factor in that Buffalo sucks. Oh and EJ Manuel threw for a career best completion percentage. This was the same crap as last year a and the Bears had better DT and SS play than they did at any point last year.

When you bring in new players and still have the same problems it becomes pretty clear that Tucker has a lot to do with it. Not canning him was probably the biggest mistake Emery has made in his tenure thus far.

I didn't realize we had given up 200 yards rushing until I saw the box score just now. Disgusting.

I thought the line in particular played very well. Lance Briggs had a terrible game and, because of two plays, gave up 85 of Buffalo's 193 yards on the ground. He completely missed his assignment on each of those long run plays.

D Line still needs more pressure, but I thought they played a better game than people are recognizing.

There were a lot of positive things yesterday; I think we'll be okay.

If we beat SF next Sunday we're 1-1, which is exactly what we were last year. NE looks like it might be an easier game in practice than on paper. The Jets suck and the Panthers might not be any good either. The Dolphins may or may not be any good.

If we finish the first half 4-4 or 5-3, we'll be okay.

In what way? They didn't get pressure and were more or less non-factors. Not being as awful as last year's line doesn't make them ok, let alone qualify as playing well.

The O-Line played pretty well, I'm not a Mills fan but overall given his reps and who he was playing, it wasn't bad.

Forte, Young, Alshon, and Bennett played well.

Cutler was bad, Allen was no better than a declining Peppers was last year, LBs were awful and Emery failed to upgrade the safeties and LBs.

To me, they go 0-2 and I can't see them going 10-4.

The biggest concern is Slauson and if it's a lower or higher ankle sprain. I'd rather see De la Puente over Garza anyways but they have no depth at O-Line.

Cutler can't be Romo and that INT was likely a 10 point swing. Unless that throw to Bennett was a comeback route, that throw was Cutler too as Graham jumped the route as Cutler telegraphed that throw.

No pressure and where was the run defense?

It's telling when Buffalo is running all over them and they still play nickel defense to get Shea out of there.
