Company-sponsored logos on unis

Although I don't like the idea of placing a company's logo on a Cubs uniform, I wonder how long it will be before this happens. I'm not talking about a NASCAR concept with endless logos on a race car, but a patch on the front or on the sleeve. Soccer has been doing it for years and the NFL has looked at this in the past. As MLB teams are looking for new revenue streams, this would seem to be a potential next step. We've accepted ads on the outfield doors at Wrigley, where would you draw the line at?

I would definitely never buy another jersey/shirt with logos on them. I would probably enjoy watching a game much less if the unis looked like that.

Baseball has probably the most effective on screen advertisements so I think they'd be the last of the major sports to jump to uniform advertisements. It seems inevitable for the NBA.

I was thinking it would be good idea to allow cash-strapped teams like the A's and the Rays to do it, but then I remembered MLB also considers the Cardinals to be poor and in need of help to stay competitive.

 

I'm fine with it. I was more resistant to the increase of ads at Wrigley and I got over that years ago. I'd probably feel differently if I bought and wore jerseys, but I don't, so bring on the NASCAR unis.

I guess it would kinda bug me if they were covered with them, but I wouldn't mind something like each team was allowed to strike a deal with an advertiser and end up having a patch or logo on each sleeve.

All advertisement suck dicks. People "who wouldn't mind it" need to be locked away from polite society. To those of you that say, "if it brings extra revenue" , take a freaking economics class. If everyone does it, all it does is create inflation. The Rays and A's will always be bottom feeders.

 

So, in closing no [expletive] advertisement on uniforms. I hate it on my TV, I hate it when I have to sit through it to watch something on the net, and I don't [expletive] need any more of it polluting my sports. Enough already.

I think it would bother me more if we were talking about a singular uniform design that had been around forever, but these things have been tweaked and changed so much that none of them really feels like THE uniform that I would want to stay...whatever, "pure" or something.

i want to say that i dont care about advertising on uniforms but i really do. plus, it's not like one team is going to do it and get a leg up on everyone else. it's going to be all teams doing it and they're all going to make a little more money, but since everyone is doing it, there's no advantage and all we have is a bunch of owners who are a little richer than they were before.
