Why the hell do the Cubs care so much about this that they would intentionally screw over the Giants for a win? We're playing for nothing.

huh?

“Well, it looks to me like they’re just kind of taking their sweet time, knowing that they do have a 2-0 lead and it’s a complete game right now,” Krukow said in the delay’s early stages, as the crew moved at a snail’s pace.

“They’re usually pretty good. I think this was staged. I think if the Giants had a 2-0 lead, they’d have had it on right now. They’d be sitting back in their little room and having a cup of coffee,” said Krukow.

“This is absolutely brutal. You would think by now in August these guys would’ve done this … They know what they’re doing. And this is exactly what they’re doing.

“You can hear the Giants fans at this ballpark, they’re booing. This is unbelievable. And you cannot tell me this is not premeditated. This is absurd.”

I like Krukow, but this is insane. You know you're saying something dumb when you can picture Hawk saying the exact same thing.

I guess Righetti was going absolutely ape [expletive] in the visitors locker room after the game was called and had to be calmed down by players....Bochy is protesting the game, not that it'll accomplish anything but yea

The Giants should have got out and helped the grounds crew if they were so concerned about losing.

Also scoring more than zero runs and not giving up a moonshot to Rizzo would have helped.

this was just an unfortunate confluence of events that wasn't really avoidable after a crazy heavy storm cell popped up and the umpires waited a bit too long to call for the tarp.

Haha haters might point to this as another sign of the Cubs organizational incompetence.....I look at it as the turning point in our decades of bad luck. It all started on a random Tuesday afternoon in August....

Or old man Ricketts had the ground crew outsourced for cheap foreign labor to save some money.

I hope the Giants miss the playoffs by 1 game

STL would be the team to get in over them just to piss me off

Yes, the Cubs did this intentionally. Because beating the Giants and dropping from the 5th to the 6th pick in next year's draft is so important to the organization.

Doesn't sound like there's any precedence but it does seem fair.

Sucks for Wada.

Certainly it's fair, though it'd be interesting to see how MLB justifies it considering there seems to be be no rule that would do so.

the giants claimed that the cylinder thats used to roll out the tarp should be considered a mechanical device or something.

lol, the Giants protest asked for a forfeit in their favor too. Screw them, I hope we put up 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

If the Cubs keep the lead until the end of the game, then the W is determined by scorekeeper's discretion right? Can Wada still get the W in that case?

EDIT: N/m, Wada pitched 5 innings so he's eligible for the win. Not sure why you said it sucks for Wada now....

So those of us with tickets for the regular start can go in and see this? So weird.

That's how it used to be with most double headers, I'm pretty sure

Yeah, but now two people can hold valid tickets for the same seat.
