"he contused it!"

love Len & JD

The scary thing is that on the replay you can see it was towards the end of the bat instead of the sweet spot.

Lots of teams will hate Javy for leaving upper-deckers in their stadiums. Party foul Javy.

Looking at Cub hitters we care about with carefully selected sample sizes...

Baez - .205/.239/.318/.557 last 11 games

Alcantara - .176/.250/.239/.489 last 22 games

Rizzo - .234/.315/.340/.655 last 24 games

On plus side...

Castro - .397/.414/.529/.943 last 17 games

Just want to mention that after I posted this 2 of these guys went yard. What you got for me Contra?

Javier Baez has joined Jason Kipnis as the only players in the last 100 years to hit 5+ HR as a 2B in their 1st 14 career games

if pressed to make a determination, i'd say right now that i expect that Baez will probably settle into a Soriano-like (the Cubs incarnation) career, with huge slumps and scorching hot streaks

I was surprised that I don't see many people making rich man's Soriano comp for Baez. I leave the smart baseball stuff to the rest of you guys but the high power, high strikeout, low walk profile screams Soriano, no?

I've been saying it for.. well for like 6 months. A mid 90's (pre 60hr Sammy) with less SB's in the middle infield is what I'm envisioning from Baez.

Which is an awesome player. That bat speed reminds me a ton of young Sammy too.

And at a middle infield position with 6 years of team control, that is an EXTREMELY valuable asset.

Soriano at Baez's age was also playing second base.

It would be really cool to see Baez walk or get a hit in the ninth, not because it would mean anything, but would be a great way to end the trip.

Well, since you put it nicely.

But to be fair, he said he envisioned a career like Soriano's Cubs one, not Yanks.
