This is really going to depend on what we give up. I don't mind him as a rebound candidate, but he's going to have to be really cheap because he has been an absolute garbage fire this year.

My hope is not more than Christian Villanueva.

This almost definitely means we're dealing Russell or Wright though.

Ooh, interesting. Doubront has always thrown a cutter, hopefully some refinement can get him back to the near 3 win pitcher he was last year.

Damnit, I'm sure they're already expected Rizzo or Starlin.

I'm surprised they'd even allow him to come. Maybe if we name Doubront team president they'll only hold up the deal for six months.

Why is his 2012 fWAR so much lower than his 2013, especially when his xFIP is so much better in 2012 in an almost identical innings total?

was replacement level that different or something?

WAR uses xFIP? I thought it was based on actual, not prediction...

fangraphs uses fielding independent numbers...but i think it's the FIP, not xFIP, which DUH that explains it

Yeah that's what I was getting at when I said prediction vs. actual.

Also, didn't know about bWAR using ERA. Good info -- thx.

RT @JimBowdenESPNxm: Red Sox got player to be named later for Duobront

We'll just reroute the PTBNL we got from the Dodgers for Barney to Boston.

Who loses their rotation spot Wada?

I'm assuming they're going to do what they did with Arrieta/Straily and put him in AAA.

Yeah, I presume he needs to get stretched out anyway since he's been mad about pitching out of the bullpen (hence the trade).

Confirmed.

Fangraphs - FIP

Baseball-Reference - ERA
