Does this make Castro the longest tenured Cub?

After being underwhelmed at first, I'm a big fan. Russell is awesome.

Seriously, I'm thinking the Mets, Pirates, and Mariners are all set up pretty well to make a run at Starlin.

So you think they'll move Starlin so they can keep Russell and Baez?

that is a not a bad top 10.

At the risk of repeating myself...

  • Kris Bryant - pure stud
  • Javier Baez - love the progress lately. still the highest upside
  • Addison Russell - doesn't have the power of the top two
  • Arismendy Alcantara - can't believe I'm ranking a 22 yr old ss/cf with an .898 and 20 SB/3 CS this low
  • Jorge Soler - love the guy. get healthy hamstrings
  • Kyle Schwarber - dude just rakes
  • Billy McKinney - I can't see anything Almora does better
  • Albert Almora - He has to find additional ways to provide value to rank higher
  • Gleyber Torres - he'd be top 3-4 in most systems already
  • Eloy Jimenez - he'd be top 3-4 in most systems already

Given the rainy season is upon us, let's just send Russell, McKinney, Almora and Vogelbach to Tenn. Imagine the fun for the next few months following them and Iowa.

Not only that, unless I'm missing someone, Rizzo is second

Or trade one of those 2 obviously. I guess it probably NEEDS to be Javy or Russell in order to compete next year.

I still think this is a precursor to an offseason blockbuster and we will go into 2015 without one of Russell or Baez

baez, alcantara, p. johnson, almora, beeler for stanton and andrew heaney.

I knew I'd miss someone. Still that's nuts.

there's no reason castro, russell, and baez couldn't be on the same team

Isn't Russell a really good SS? (Defensively obviously) You thinking one at each of 2B, SS, and 3B?

Sounds like an elite defensive infield to me if you have 3 players who can play SS at 3B/SS/2B.

Which lineup would you rather have:

C Castillo

1B Rizzo

2B Baez

SS Castro

3B Russell

LF Bryant

CF Alcantara

RF Soler

or

C Castillo

1B Rizzo

2B Baez

SS Castro

3B Valbuena/Villanueva

LF Bryant

CF Alcantara

RF Stanton

Is this a trick question? If the Cubs can miraculously get Stanton while only losing Russell and Soler from that first lineup how do you possibly not do it?

What was the last team to have a collection of hitting prospects this good?

I don't have the research to prove it, but I'm going to go ahead and guess there's been no other farm system that sniffs this collection of top tier talent
