I don't even want them to win today. Losing all four against the White Sox is what this organization deserves.

[expletive] that.

They aren't going to be embarrassed into trying. I'd rather they just win a game.

I can never root for a loss. Get a win and go into Atlanta with the Braves reeling.

This. We're not going to stop punting seasons because the plan to do so goes even better than expected, so let's win a damn game.

Especially against the Sox.

I can not stand listening to Sox fans who actually believe they are a contender.

That and they really think Don Cooper is magic.

They can't comprehend that they have finished in the bottom 3rd in staff ERA the last 3 years, but he's magic.

I should have known better but after winning 2 of 3 from the cards...playing and pitching well.

Having the Sox lose 5 of 6 and struggle.

Then having the Braves on a long losing streak, I really thought we were heading for a god run.

Then we decide we can't hit pitchers with double digit eras.

“We need to start hitting,” Rizzo said. “It’s contagious. Four hits is not enough to win a game at the big league level.”

“We’re going to have some highs and have some lows,” Renteria said. “They have to continue to know we believe in them and trust in their abilities. If I didn’t believe it, I wouldn’t say it.”

I don't really give a [expletive] if players think meatbally things. In fact, they're overwhelmingly likely to. And that's totally OK.

I'd go so far as to say it's preferable.

Yeah, that's why it is on the manager to pull starting pitchers w/o asking how the guy feels. Asking how he feels is pointless. The idea that Mark Prior would have told Baker he needed to come out earlier JUST BURNS ME UP.

Cubs have never faced Carroll (Rookie).

Thats PTSD material for me. I'm twitching and sweating right now. Baker damn near killed Z too. Z was spent by the playoffs. It's a good thing Z's part bear. I will be in a ball on the floor for the next half hours.

I'd go so far as to say it's preferable.

The only downside is that dumbass fans read into everything an athlete says, and player meatball statements can therefore further instill meatballism and all of its ills into the unwashed masses of fandom.

But then again, there will always be dumbass fans.

And if the player says non-meatball things those same fans and media members will ride him for being soft or something.

Well the thinking is, if every player said non-meatball things, or if most players didn't, you could help elevate the discussion a bit.

But that's pretty utopian.

ETA: Besides, if there weren't meatball fans, I wouldn't be able to feel smug when discussing player value in the bleachers.

I don't think I have ever been angrier than when Prior came out for the 7th in game 2. The sixth was bad enough.

(yeah, let's all relive this stuff)

Given what was going all the time, I can't really say I have never been angrier, but I was definitely WTFing and STOP DOING THATing.
