I don't know what's better about supporting the Theo Cubs - the fact that the highlight of our season is going to be 2 out of 3 against St. Louis in early May or the fact that I'm sure many of us knew that as it was happening.

I'm sick of this [expletive].

The fact that a very large chunk of the fanbase will either argue that it's a good thing or that it was completely unavoidable because he inherited BA's No. 16 farm system and a 71-win team three years ago.

There have been 4 teams in the last 3 years, all small-market, who lost more games in a season than we did in 2011 and had a lower-ranked farm system than we did in 2011 who went on to make the playoffs the following year and I'm rooting for the one that decided to pitch the next 3 (and looks like 4) years. If being pissed about that is 'being a damned moron', then sign me the [expletive] up.

All this after 2 outs and no one on. Renteria is really an awful manager managing a real awful, awful, awful team of spare parts.

While it is very early...It is looking like Theo and Jed are 0-2 on their manager choices.

Yeah, no.

You are denser than a pile of bricks, but hey, go all in on Kyle-level thick-headedness, then.

Oh please, enlighten us. You are exactly who we need to explain to us why this is all a good thing.

Losing 100 games two years in a row does funny things to people.

Funny how the people who aren't sick of this [expletive] don't get constantly insulted on this board.

It's kinda nice how the tide has turned and almost everyone is, if not outright hostile toward the front office, at the very least sick of losing.

Plenty of people are sick of losing. Few make up narratives and turn a blind eye to everything good happening just to have an excuse to spout off regularly.

And in this case he has an absolutely legitimate gripe and bukie is talking out his ass about who knows what.

Fair point.

It entirely possible to be excited about the prospects and pissed off and frustrated about how bad the ML team has been and looks to continue to be.

Oh please, you've never been interested in logic, despite your insistence to the contrary. You ignore or twist everything positive into a negative, and then play both sides just so you can always claim to be right. The fact that other people can be morons too doesn't make your positions any more plausible, and you've long since ceased to be of any value to people that try to be reasonable about things.

There isn't nearly enough good happening for it to be described as an "everything."

There's Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro and Armando Rivero. That's it. Everyone else associated with this organization sucks for all eternity.

We suck donkey balls for the 3rd year in a row and are going to trade the best player on the team within 2 months, but I'm making up narratives.

And most of the 'good things' you're referring to are either sucking or injured in the minors right now. Forgive me for not jumping for joy.

Nate Schierholtz is 167th among qualified players in WAR. Dead last.

He and Barney shouldn't be seeing as much time as they are. Even if Valbuena doesn't hit lefties (and he's got reverse splits, or close anyway), he puts together much better ABs than Barney. And I don't care if it's Coghlan out there every day, somebody other than Nate would be nice.

Coghlan is a terrible defensive outfielder who hasn't been a positive WAR offensive player since 2010. I'll take my chances with Nate to be honest.

Samardzija's not our best player. Just saying.

No, I'm sick of the nonsense bitching and ad-hominem about how apparently easy it could have been to buy all the players and make the playoffs, when there hasn't been much of a realistic chance to do so. There's no way to force all the free agents to sign here, and there's no magic formula for making the playoffs from a dire situation except hitting on lightning in a bottle several times over, and that's no way to sustain long-term success.

The overall organization was in a shambles from drafting to development throughout the system, and propping the major league team up with FA just to please a few short-sighted people without overhauling the rest of the system wouldn't have been a good long term solution either. Despite how easily people hand-wave away the rest of the system as "easy when you're not trying at the major-league level", no teams' systems are improving like the Cubs' had. The more we learn about how terrible the system was prior to Epstein/Hoyer/McLeod, the more it makes sense to attack the problem in the way they did. The annoying financial issues with the Ricketts just contribute more to the necessity of maximizing ROI, and every move that the club has made has been in an effort to increase the overall value to the club, even if it doesn't make immediate sense to people who want quick solutions.
