Yeah, I'm not expecting anything from Fujikawa. That said, the pen is going to be a strength for a long time. Maybe not immediately, as there likely will be some growing pains along the way. But it's impossible not to like what we've seen from Rondon. Grimm has shown quite a bit. Strop is a useful piece. Ramirez has electric stuff. Wesley Wright has looked very good. Rosscup ought to be up full time and will be once we unload Russell. Parker has a shot, hell he was really good last year. Then we have Vizcaino and Rivero that may be the two best arms of all, yet to debut.

He ruptured his UCL, not surprised he's still out. I'd be shocked if he comes back at all really. He is what, 34 years old? With a blown out elbow? Yea.

He was rehabbing in April and got re-injured.

Isn't that pretty much reaffirming what I was saying.....? He got hurt..."wouldnt be surprised if got re injured/never came back"....he gets hurt again, no timetable on return

Killing time on AZPhil's 40 man roster page; Blake Parker has to be placed on optional assignment waivers to be sent out starting on 5/17, so I'm thinking we don't see him on the big league club again until we're approaching expanded rosters.

What is this? I've never heard of it.

Player needs to be placed on revocable waivers prior to being optioned. If another team claims him, you either can pull back the waiver and keep him on the 25 man or let him go to the claiming team. I guess if the Cubs don't think too highly of Parker they could call him up and assume nobody would claim him should they need to option him out, but with Rivero, Vizcaino, and Fujikawa, it seems unlikely. He may have never seen the bigs until September even without this tied to him.

Strop will have an MRI on his groin. Apparently he hurt it 5 days ago.

He pitched today, so there's no retroactive date.

Jose Veras threw a scoreless and hitless inning on rehab at Tennessee Tuesday.

if somebody hits a sure double but twists his ankle and collapses in the batter's box, and the cubs promise he actually injured his ankle a week ago, can the cubs backdate his dl stint by a week after he is awarded second?

"I've been dealing with my groin since five days ago," Strop said after the Cubs 5-1 loss. "Some soreness and stuff. It's been five days and it's still bothering me bad."

Strop said he hurt his groin in the gym doing lunges. He indicated he couldn't throw his slider on Tuesday due to the pain and tried to "get away with throwing my sinker." He gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in one-third of an inning before leaving.

"I wanted to pitch," Strop said. "I wanted to see if doing those motions was going to hurt.

This kind of pisses me off. Where is the coaching staff?

I'm confused why a leg injury would render him unable to throw a breaking pitch, but not a fastball.

what stellar position player would you like to bring up?

Any of Watkins, Vitters, or Szczur would be better options off the bench than having Travis Wood as one of your bats off the bench.

They're not stellar, but neither's Ryan Kalish, let's have a 14 man staff!

The Mets cut Kyle Farnsworth today.

I head jeff fassero doesn't have a contract at the moment either.

Gregg was never traded, presumably at least in part because people knew it was a mirage and weren't about to give any actual value for him.

Rondon and Ramirez have been lights out, Grimm and Strop have been better than their overall numbers indicate, Veras is back on the roster now(he's your bounceback trade candidate if you want one), Schlitter has been pretty effective despite not striking anyone out, Parker is deserving of a call up, Rivero and Vizcaino aren't far behind, even Hatley is mowing down guys in Iowa if you want to add a flyer to the 25/40 man. Oh, and Vilanueva still has a roster spot as well. There isn't room for a journeyman RH RP on the roster.

Maybe they can get him to bang Beth Murphy and distract her from the reconstruction debate.

I'd prefer he racky tack her, but I like where your head's at.

Actually, Fassero does have a contract as a minor league pitching coach in the Reda system (he was a Cub minor league pitching coach back in 2012).
