FOR THE CHILDREN.

Mark Grace is a sloppy drunken jackwagon who could have very easily killed someone during one of his many DUI's, and he's colorful. Ryne Sandberg screwed the team with his hissyfit retirement thanks in part to his whore wife and the meatballs couldn't wait to have him manage the team with his buntery.

Sammy took HGH or wore a suit of drugs to press conferences or whatever, hit 600 homeruns for this sorry assed franchise and F HIM AND HIS SALSA MUSIC U CANT LEAVE EARLY ON A DAY YOU ARENT SUPPOSED TO EVEN PLAY

Have any of you heard or care about the things/attitude Sammy has now? The dude is nuts. He calls for his own statue.

That's like the least crazy thing about him; he totally should have a statue outside of Wrigley.

So the solution is that Sammy must apologize to players who are no longer with the team, and then report back to the Cubs? I mean, that's what the article sounds like.

What a piece of [expletive] [expletive] limp dick thing to expect from someone. That better not be what it is.

Well I agreed with the Cubs response to him leaving on the last day of the season but it's been 10 years, I think it's ridiculous that they are publicly making him jump through hoops in order to attend an event considering all the stuff he did for the franchise. They are really going to make him call up Kerry Wood to apologize?

I can't wait to see what the Cubs make Z do if he ever wants to come back and sing take me out to the ball game or something.

They melt down the drunk Harry Caray statue for his statue.

I don't really care about yesterday as much as I care about the quote by the Cub spokesman. MLB teams are responsible for the steroid era too. Take a page from the Giants and do what's right. Bud Selig can piss off.

i can see how cindy sandberg screwed the team, but how did ryno do that? by retiring? ehh, that's a bit of a stretch.

the cubs should have sosa back in some way, shape or form. if the tigers can have a statue of the wife-beating bigot ty cobb in front of ford field, i believe the cubs can make amends with a superstar that left early on the last day of the 2004 season. he made them shitloads of money for over a decade and to hold that one incident over his head is so petty on their end.

He literally quit on his team mid-season. That's supposed to be the ultimate no-no.

How do people not get that? He signed the richest contract in baseball, then quit because his old lady stepped out on him.

sosa should announce he retired on the last day of the season in 2004 and then unretired the next day. then he can be our hitting coach.

He retired like 2 months in, didn't he?

That's far more selfish than blasting Pit Bull or reggaeton or looking at the light of a camera after hitting his 3rd home run of the day or whatever Sosa did that was so unbelievably selfish that it resulted in his excommunication from the organization.

Same reason Zambrano's the worst guy who ever lived but we slobber over the dead knob of a guy who choked out a pizza vendor for heckling him.

I'm guessing that the storyline at the time wasnt that he quit on his team, because the media adored him and probably put a decent face on the whole thing.

would u rather bang kate upton after having her breasts removed because of boob cancer, or slobber on a dead knob of a guy who choked out a pizza vendor for heckling him

most likely in the minority here, but sandberg retiring mid-season never bothered me that much. his reasoning as to why he did was laughable (losing the desire to get ready for each game) where it was obvious that his wife/divorce was the real reason. same with sosa leaving early on the last day in '04...so many positive memories eclipse that one incident.

Sammy isn't even a confirmed cheater either.

They/We have excepted back Fergie with his problem. Santo had terrible stories about his partying and how he did not take care of his health/diabetes. People love Ryno, Grace even Sutcliffe and they have had different issues.

As for Grace, are you saying that in your entire life you haven't gotten behind the wheel after having a touch too much to drink? I would have to say BS for anyone in my generation. I'm also pretty sure we all have a friend who has. and we probably have a friend who has a DUI but we still are friends with them despite the fact that they could have killed someone.

So maybe we should ease up on the judgement.

That's kind of the same way I feel about Sosa as well. Didn't bother me all that much that he left early that last game. It did bother me that I couldn't stop hearing about how crappy Sosa was for doing it, every damn day for like a month.

And the number of positive Sosa memories I have definitely outweighs his overall jerky-ness anyway, as you said.

Honestly I don't hate Sandberg either. Dude came, he played, hit a ton of baseballs, fielded a ton of grounders. Great moments @ Wrigley. That's all there is.

I did it when I was 18/19. A 50-year man doing that is despicable.

This isn't the 70's. And considering his non-stop stories about partying, that was hardly the only time he did it either.
