I thought you didn't care.

I don't care about Sosa. I care when someone makes an unfair comparison.

Frohman gave his opinion on the subject, and it was against the grain of everyone else's opinion. I would say that's not being a dick compared to telling someone to go [expletive] themselves.

Can you see how those two things are different?

Frohman made an impassioned idiotic post and got called out on it. Then you pretended you were too cool for school while contributing to the length of a thread you were baffled could be this long, before exposing yourself as a liar.

So you admit, that he just made an impassioned idiotic post and was not being a dick?

Good day sir.

My opinion is idiotic? Gfy, too.

well now you ruined scarey's whole point

I meant it in the nicest possible way. I'm sure he didn't take it personally, as he's been a dick for a long, long time. Stannis is just pissy because he got stuck w Dragonstone and a bossy redhead.

Wait... I'm confused. Am I the dick? Or is Stannis? Or are both of us? I didn't even know I made enough noise around here to be given a reputation like that.

Did people see this idiocy?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-ernie-banks-sammy-sosa-20140430,0,5678646.story

"I had talked to (Cubs Chairman Tom) Ricketts a little bit about it. He said he didn’t know what to do ... whether he was going to have him come back or whether he was not going to have him come back to the (100-year celebration of Wrigley Field)," Banks told the Tribune.

"(Ricketts) said: ‘Well, I’ll let you know.’ Then when we got to the 100th anniversary, I asked everybody out there: ‘Is Sammy coming? Is Sammy coming?' They said: 'We don’t know ... we don’t know?'"

Apparently, the Cubs want Sosa to address the long-standing speculation that he used banned substances while on the way to overtaking Banks as the Cubs’ all-time home run leader. Then, perhaps a reconciliation could be discussed.

Ernie Banks wants to help reconcile Sosa with the Cubs but Ricketts, who can't get anything done on any level to help the organization take a step forward, blows him off.

I'm pretty baffled that people adamant enough about Sosa to make an 8 page thread about all this

What does one talk about when Cubs baseball doesn't matter?

Cubs baseball when it did matter.

Why welcome him back? He walked out on his team and organization. For all we know (and we all know he wasn't clean) he is the symbol of what was wrong in the game during the steroid era, shaming himself by acting as if he couldn't speak English.

Sure, he was the "heart and soul" of the Cubs and the only bright spot for so many seasons. I enjoyed the PED Era as much as all of you, but I'm just not ready to let go of my disgust at what was done to MLB. Owners, players, and Selig - all garbage.

Sosa and everyone else did it for the money. They ruined the history of the game, which some of us respect.

Damn, he was fun to watch play, though. I don't care if they "reinstate" him to the inner circle of Cub Glory. I doubt he'd be accepted by that body - but what the hell did they do?

I just like to rant - who gives a f$#% what I think. I still love Sammy, but what the hell is he doing to himself?

so, you and the Cubs deserve an apology because:

1. he left work early once after a bad day at the office, after his day was done

2. SPEAK ENGLISH

3. he played baseball for money, as well as "everyone else", and entertained people in the process

i'm not getting a real reason, here. sammy owes you nothing, he owes the cubs nothing, he owes the fans nothing. whatever crimes he committed he's more than paid for.

go [expletive] yourself.

This is not a very good excuse though. Any player who did this in any sport would be chastised.

Chastised, but not ostracized.

But also, not "any player". I guarantee you loads of superstars with stellar reputations have left the clubhouse without being ratted out by the team. This sort of things happens during 15+ year careers. It is unfortunate, but it really is no big deal in the grand scheme of things. It is perfect red meat hacks like Kaplan and Sullivan to get their audience riled up, but it is pointless nonsense in the grand scheme of things, that being a dozen years of producing more than anybody else on the team.

It's the same double standard we always go through in Chicago.

They hate Sosa for leaving a game early, but can't wait to get back a guy who literally quit on his team midseason.

They ran Zambrano out of town for being a hothead, but practically canonized a guy who Sprewell'd his coach and choked out a vendor for heckling him.

I totally forgot about Sprewell - what a nut job!

There can't even be that many people in the FO left from when Sosa was here, so this [expletive] just smacks of either fear of the meatballs, or outright stupidity.

Sosa was the only good thing this stupid team had for years.

I think Kerry Wood doesn't like Sosa (wasn't he the one who smashed Sammy's boombox?)

I think this is a big part of the problem.

If true, then Kerry needs to get the [expletive] over it like a grownup.

If Kerry had chosen to act like a grownup 10 years ago, Sosa might have been abel to leave the game gracefully as a Cub.

Kerry said last year that he was over it, and Sosa should have his number retired. It's #PTR being the meatball fan that he is.

That's what I'm thinking, too. Ricketts has really been a lousy owner of the Cubs.
