Alcantara bomb.

Was initially ruled a double; the umps got together and corrected the call.

@KevinDruley: Always wonder how many Reading Club kids know their #Cubs execs. Somebody's gotta know they're chanting SpongeBob a stone's throw from Theo

Starting to think Alcantara might just be the first one up

Glad someone else said this. I hope so, partly because his development and partly because there shouldn't be anyone the FO wants to get a look at who's blocking him.

Baez is 2-3 with a triple so far.

I still think Alcantara spends nearly all of the year in AAA and gets traded in the offseason. He still K's quite a bit and doesn't have the power profile to counter that like Bryant and Baez hopefully will be able to. Plus, second base seems to be where the FO prefers to move Javy to.

Would be a decent plan if it can bring back a ML ready SP.

If Alcantara continues to prove that he could be an above-average player, than I hope we don't trade him. Well, unless the return was an equal or more value arm, I guess. Theres just something really appealing about having good to great Castro-Baez-Alcantara middle INF during our push for contention. All 3 could fill valuable roles on the ML club, and then make a trade from there if it makes sense. We all drool about Castro-Baez DP combo for 160 games but it just isn't likely. Alcantara would be an excellent backup, plus I'd imagine he's got value as a pinch runner and possible converting to emergency OF, or whatever. I'll be real here: I love that he's a switch hitter and I hope we find room for him.

I think his point is that Alcantara strikes out too much to be an above average player and that he thinks he should be traded before he kills his value by being disappointing in the big leagues.
