Ricketts, Epstein and Hoyer will soon get the message when Wrigley is half empty in JUNE and JULY..

This has to be the calm before the storm, right?

Huh? They knew this team would probably be bad and knew attendance would suffer as a result. They aren't going to be shocked when Wrigley is half empty and they aren't going to change their gameplan. You can bitch all you want about how shitty the team is and talk about how apathetic the fans are and nothing is going to change their timeframe for success.

The question is, what's the timeframe? This is year 3 and it's getting worse. I understand what they're trying to do. I get all of that. However, to put this shameful product on the field in this market is truly an embarrassment .

Nothing will deter them!

In a couple years we'll either thank them for their determination, or damn them.

Welington Castillo bunted on his own in the 5th inning, according to Renteria. They wanted him to swing away

Way to throw your player under the bus.

If a reporter asked the question what is Renteria suppose to do? Lie?

Yes.

Then Castillo's going to look pretty dumb when they're asking him the same question in the next room over.

Hmm. If only players were allowed to communicate with managers and vice-versa. Then they'd have a chance to get their stories straight...

I would argue that on a team with a manager that has been so bunt happy, it is only natural that players would be interested in bunting on their own regularly. If you create a bunting culture you can't be surprised when your citizens bunt.

I can't believe Renteria and Castillo didn't have a meeting and decide what each would say if the media asked them about the bunt. Typical Cobs.

Bunt happens, runs don't score. Renteria walks up to Castillo in the dugout "When they ask about that bunt, I'll say I called it, avoid some of the heat." Except he says it in Spanish because that's why he was hired.

It's pretty dumb to act like this would either be a) unheard of in sports or b) onerous or difficult to imagine.

I don't think it's unheard of or hard to imagine. I just think it's dumb and I don't think it matters nor should it be expected.

Bunting culture sounds like one shitty culture.

Renteria loves bunts, so he probably figured he was giving Castillo credit.

Similarly, the front office likes losing as many games as possible, so in Renteria's mind bunting is just helping the organization reach its goals quicker.

"Bunt for Daz" has a much better ring to it than "Tank for Daz"

Right. I can't believe they didn't do that. Ugh, freaking Cubs, man.
