@BearReport: #Bears Emery says he believes he can find a quality safety tomorrow.

@BearReport: #Bears Emery says the plan was to take two defensive tackles today.

I don't like that this is considered a plan. Slaves to need

i think it's ok when the team can contend for a superbowl by addressing said needs.

i agree that long term i always want the best value but this team has got a legitimate window.

I hope they aren't viewing this as a window.

As in, its the NFL, so as long as you have a good coach and a good QB, there is no such thing as a window?

Or like the Bears aren't a legitimate SB threat?

i think he means the former, which is a line of thinking i'm fine with. i just think this particular group of players can be really really sick if the right supporting talent is added.

I think Idonije is a long shot to make the roster.

DE- locks = Allen, Young, Houston

DT- locks = Ratliff, Paea, Sutton, Ferguson

I think Bass and Collins are going to get spots because they both showed flashes last year. Then its Washington and his youth. Idonije and his versatility. Or Austen Lane who is familiar with Tucker.

Lance Briggs ‏@LanceBriggs 15m

Welp, today just got very interesting. Scummie or not, welcome, Will Sutton. I'm willing to put aside our differences to win a championship.

Whatever, Lance. Arizona and Arizona State suck.

I really didn't want Sutton in the 2nd. Love the value in the 3rd though.

Ditto.

Gotta pick Desir if he's there. He and Breeland are likely the best to convert to FS. Tripp is also a very strong pick. Top 3 on my board with Ellington and Vereen rounding out my top five as it concerns the Bears pick.

Do not want to pick a running back.

Udfa. I don't believe in ever drafting one unless absolutely necessary. Too many decent ones to be had sitting on the couch. There is hardly any nuance to the position. Unless you get an opportunity to draft a Peterson or McCoy or even a Forte, you shouldnt.

Essentially, do you have a little burst to get to the next level? Ok, you're hired.

Agree with exceptions. I have no problem with the Bears drafting DeAnthony Thomas because he's not a RB in the NFL. WR/punt returner.

Man, if that isn't a gross oversimplification of the position and it's relation in the draft. Yes good and decent backs are found throughout the draft and UDFA, but that hardly means a decent one is always sitting there.

You're also looking at RB saying there is no nuance as if their only job is to run the ball. Yes the current NFL has marginalized the RB position a bit, but you want a guy who can do the blocking and receiving particularly because how the RB role has changed. So it's not just finding a guy with a little second level speed and handing him the ball occasionally.

I'd put it at a need for the Bears. It's not a absolute need, but depending how the board shakes out could be a wise investment, especially a few who may contribute in the return game.

Of the guys you mentioned, we know the Bears have met in some way, shape or form with Huff (S), Ikard ©, Norwood (WR), DAT (OW) and White (RB).

Gotta hope Tripp, Ellington, Desir, Breeland and McGill are high on their 4th round wish list.

Agreed, though I have no problem with the Bears drafting DeAnthony Thomas because he's not a RB in the NFL. WR/punt returner.

I wouldn't go quite that far. If the guy has exceptional skills, yeah I'd be OK with it.

I would almost always be upset spending a high pick there, though. If they draft one today? Maybe.
