I don't think I've ever been an [expletive] on a Bears-Packers thread. When the Bears beat the Packers in 2008, the Packers were already eliminated from the playoff race. If I acted like an idiot after that game, I apologize because I don't really know why I would've cared about a game that had no magnitude riding on it for the Packers.

You're fine. FWIW I was curious and did find it though... viewtopic.php?f=44&t=52384&start=800

I'm just being a [expletive] because I hate today is all. Haha.

Can't believe Craig Steltz has been on the Bears for 6 years.

Yeah, I don't really know what was going on there but...

Hey, I was right about Forte and Olsen!

Here's some unrelated stuff to chew on:

The Bears QBs this year have combined for:

358/555 a 64.5% completion percentage, 4224 yards, 30 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. 7.6 Yards per attempt and a 96.6 Quarterback rating.

Thats pretty god damn unbelievable line from a first year coach salvaging an offense that I'm not sure has ever broken 4000 yards passing ever. EVER.

Well, fwiw Mortensen said he expects Rodgers will not be cleared.

I think the Packers are doing a nice job of keeping this thing up in the air week-to-week.

Yea, I'll be shocked if Rodgers is cleared to play. Seems like their whole "We did the tests on Tuesday, and we'll tell you what they say on Thursday" is a pretty clear shot across the bow that we're not to expect the story to be any different.

Am late to this thread, but just wanted to re-quote my craptacularly wrong prediction from earlier and mention that if anyone here has any advice as to why my fortune-telling side business hasn't really taken off yet, I'd love a PM.

Oh, and I predict a Packers victory via blow-out on Sunday. (Hoping this prediction is as accurate as my last one.)

PPS: I'm sure it's been mentioned in here already, but rumor has it that Randall Cobb will also be suiting up. Which is just great.

I'll be in Vegas for this one, watching Rodgers slice through our defense like a hot knife through butter.

I'll subscribe to the shoot out theory, but the Bears come up significantly short. With Rodgers guiding the Pack, look for extended scoring drives where lots of clock is eaten and we just can't get off the field. Bears should be able to do some damage too in the same way, but it just won't match the Packers.

Defenses won't matter in this game. It's offense against offense, and the Packers simply have more with Rodgers.

Packers 45 Bears 31.

I hope the Bears win, I hope Rogers is stabbed in the heart by his [expletive] collarbone, and I hope that big neon cowboy falls on you.

I wonder if a Bears team has ever given up at least 20 points in every game in a season.

Strangely enough the season low in points allowed was 20 to the Packers.

edit: Just looked it up. They've allowed under 20 points in a game at least 3 times every single year in their existence. This year 0 through 15 games with Aaron Rodgers staring them down.

Speaking of points allowed, some optimism for your morning:

Bears are giving up an average of 23.9 points at home versus 34.8 on the road. No other team has this drastic of a split.

Vikings are the only team to have hit 30 against the Bears at home this year, and if I recall they had both return and defensive TDs.

Eddie Lacy is also playing this week. Rodgers, Lacy, Cobb with a good shot to play. I believe Jermichael Finley is fully recovered and ran a 4.4 in practice and will suit up. Ray Nitchske and Paul Hornung are also said to be 100% and are 25 years old again somehow.

I heard on the Score this morning that Cobb wasn't expected to play, but it was Hub who said that so who knows. I'm not worried about Finley playing. I think with the Bears run D, hobbled Lacy vs. Starks is marginally an upgrade.

The biggest upgrade is of course Rodgers. Assuming his collarbone doesn't limit him, the Bears have to respect the deep ball and the idea of putting 8 in the box to stop the run is probably going to burn them. Then there's obviously much less chance of getting 1-2 TOs from the QB, as Rodgers doesn't turn the ball over like Flynn might.

Hoping for the best. Still think we could win but definitely less excited about this one than I was earlier in the week.

The Finley part was a joke. He's not playing. He's on IR. At this point, I'm expecting the Bears to lose. I don't know that you can carry momentum for a week, but the Packers thought their season was over, then the Bears get demolished. Then they get Rodgers back, then they find out Lacy can go, then maybe Cobb is back.

The Bears have done a decent job against Rodgers though in the past. And hopefully, Cutler having talent around him this time will make a difference against probably the worst GB defense he's seen. But it seems like they have everything going for them at this point and the Bears took a huge step back after the beatdown last week.

From the Packers perspective, might as well suit 'em all up. This defense won't threaten Rodgers. By the time McClellan gets to Rodgers, he'll already be in the huddle calling the next play. I'm sure Matthews will be out there with his arm in a sling.

I still have hope that we can win this game, but the "this is why we can't ever have nice things" Cub fan in me has stolen quite a bit of my confidence. Rodgers sits out half a season, the Packers suck for most of the season and in our own house, we get to watch whether the Bears want the postseason bad enough or if the stars will continue to align perfectly for the Packers.

Oh [expletive] it. I'm predicting a rusty Rodgers throwing 2 picks in the first half, a somehow resurgent Bears D holding Lacey to 63 yards, Starks a non factor and Cutler going 323 2 Tds and a meaningless int. Forte hits 120 and a TD and the CHICAGO BEARS win this one. 34-13.

The one thing that stood out about the previous game, is the Bears were really able to get a pass rush against GB. Granted, it wasn't against Rodgers, but obviously it was a sack that injured him. I think this could be a good game for Peppers, who can have success against the rookie LT. Ratliff, has been a handful recently, and could be a nice added dimension to the defense.

My biggest concern is if Cobb is there, he's been a matchup problem for the Bears in the past. He's also Rodgers' security blanket for quick passes, which I'd imagine we'd see a lot of to help him avoid getting hit.

The threat of the pass w/ Rodgers, I think helps the Bears. They've been getting killed with an extra guy in the box. I think you play the safeties deep, a lot of nickel, and give up the 10-yard runs in lieu of the 60-yarders.

You will be gutted by a starving steer for our amusement and then thrown on the pile of burning Christians. AVE CAESAR.

Nope. St John the revelator - the only one of Jesus' disciples not to be martyred - gave me this one. He was good at predicting the future.

St. John helps with predicting sporting event outcomes?

Huh, good to know next time I feel like betting the o/u.

I just can't buy that

It seems to me they get gashed when they have to put an extra guy in the box. Because teams are running away from the safety (Wright) and destroying the LBs. I think in a 2-deep look, the safeties can read run and come downhill. Of course, that requires Wright and Conte making tackles, which has also been bad, but not as bad as it has been when there are 8 in the box and all 8 are wiped out at the line of scrimmage.

But like I said in the original, this will probably only mean 6-10 yard runs instead of 60 yarders.
