While that makes sense, the idea with QBs is you pick the one you think is best. They aren't irreplaceable parts.

I agree wth that, I just don't agree with Cleveland that Manziel is better than (or as good as) Bridgewater or Carr.

Thought the Jaguars taking Bortles so high was brutal. Especially with the way the draft unfolded.

Yeah, that was a brutal pick too. At least they didn't trade up for him, though.

Walterfootball has them with Kareem Martin: http://walterfootball.com/draft2014redraft_2.php

Charlie Campbell has them with Hageman: http://walterfootball.com/draft2014charlieredraft_2.php

FWIW, Campbell has Louis Nix falling past us to the Eagles.

Bucky Brooks has the Bears going Jernigan with Hageman, Nix, Ealy and Crichton still available: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap2000000348518/article/mock-draft-70-projecting-round-2-of-2014-nfl-draft

Will Sutton is another guy who isn't being mocked in most of these 2nd round mocks who Emery met with a lot.

Wow, Martin is a solid pick for a bad OL.

Before the season, who would have thought Martin would have gone higher than Nix or Tuitt?

or that Bridgewater would be the third Cardinal selected

I should be thrilled with Robinson and Donald, but the Rams still can't score.

I think they'd have been better off short term with one of the other OT since Robinson will need some development time. Kinda pissed they took Donald and that's going to be a scary DL.

What did you want them to do? Watkins would have been a great guy to have, but I don't think there was any way Fisher was going to do that.

The Bears may be Ok long term but its hard to stomach a pick that high that likely won't be a starter on a defense that had/has a lot of holes. Unless they are moving peanut to safety (which has been talked about before) I worry that we have a small window to build a defense while the offense is in place.

The saving grace is that it looks like one of the D-lineman that we considered at #1 should be there in the second round but safety has a huge drop off after the top 2. So unless there is a move, we will still trot out 2 safeties that most experts consider back up quality.

Beyond that you have huge questions at LB, and even still on the interior line. Hard to say we are good enough to draft a "nickel" in the first round or for our future need at CB. Nice player but we need help now at so many positions. I have a similar feeling to the McClellin pick where we watch better players for our needs being drafted by far better teams.

He'll be a starter at nickel. Comparing this pick to McClellin is just not understanding football.

I am not against the player,I am not comparing the players, I was simply saying I get a similar feeling that I got when we took Shea.

He is not big, he is the 2nd smallest DB on our roster. The NFL combine report says BOTTOM LINE Narrow-framed, confident, competitive off-man/zone corner who should contribute readily on special teams while pushing for a role in sub packages.

It may be a good pick for down the road, I just don't think we are in a spot to draft for down the road.

We lack starting safeties.

We lack starting interior lineman.

We even lack starting linebackers but we drafted a potential nickel back and special teams player with an eye on replacing peanut someday.

I just think we could have done better just like when we wasted a pick to try to make Shea a DE, when there were actual DE's that were rated higher available. If we are moving him to safety, then why not draft an actual safety.

While you all blow kisses to Emory and his drafting, think about how poorly his defensive picks have been. Offensives moves have been great, but not so much on D.

Also think about the fact that the people he learned from all have been fired, and after having failed miserably in KC.

I hope it works out, but I have my doubts.

He's not moving to safety and playing nickel will give plenty of playing time in his rookie year. You are very dismissive of nickel backs despite the necessity of using them all the time.

He's not a pick for down the road. He's a pick for now. He'll play nickel, which means he'll play plenty. And when Tillman is inevitably hurt, he'll be playing even more.

So I know they say he has a narrow frame, but he is a legit 6 feet with great leaping ability and some apparent ball skills. I don't think we need to worry about size. He looks to have all the size you need to match up against most WR.

I am a little worried about the versatility talk. I'd really like to see him stick to a spot, so hopefully we'll see him strictly as a CB/nickel back and not move back to S barring necessity due to injuries.

Out if the safeties left their knocks are mainly just that they are not well rounded. I think we can get a decent coverage safety or a decent box safety in Rd 3 or 4 still. I'd lean towards preferring a coverage guy as I think there's a few more and then you can push Conte. I'd feel pretty confident with Mundy starting as the more "SS" type, and Steltz/Jennings competing and as backups. Conte should still be salvageable but with the surgery we need some competition and all our other safeties are less coverage inclined guys.

The versatility talk is about how he can play outside as well as in the slot, cover tight ends and receivers, plus make tackles on run plays and blitz. It's not about being a safety.

I wanted Matthews over Robinson, but it's still a solid pick. Donald seems like a great pick. They addressed one need and made themselves even better along the line. My only issue is that the team still feels a little hollow because of Bradford and Mr. Excitement running the offense.

I think it's both things though I may feel differently if our S spots didn't look so shaky already. The temptation could be strong. And I wouldn't even care if they just felt that was his best long term spot, but don't want him being a bandaid for our weak S if CB is his best long term spot.

I'm absolutely thrilled that Clinton-Dix somehow made it to #21. I didn't think there was a chance that would happen. I was pretty surprised that Pryor ended up going before him too. Love the pick and if he pans out, the Packers secondary could actually (surprisingly) become an area of strength.

If the DTs are gone, I totally can see the Bears going offense in round two. I am expecting one offensive player tonight.

It is impressive how awful ABTY is at "insidering" the draft. Starting with tweeting picks directly after LaCanfora and missing everything humanly possible prediction-wise.
