Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia - not sure what happens to a stud RB with the way the NFL now values RBs in the draft

This will be really interesting - maybe the most interesting storyline in next year's draft (and far better than the Manziel story this year). Stud RBs are still clearly very valuable in the NFL (Peterson, Forte, Charles, etc) and I think a stud RB is worth a 1st round pick (and probably a high 1st).

However, you better be certain that RB is a stud if you're going to use that pick on him. Is Gurley truly a stud back and will a team take that gamble? It'll be interesting to see, I think.

I think a true stud rb isn't dropping out of top half. You don't pay them much and burn through 3 affordable years with ease.

I wouldn't pick a forte clone early in the first.

I'd be interested to see what his numbers looked like behind a better line. He's posted a steady 4.5 or so yards per carry each year and the Bear lines have been pretty abysmal. It would depend on the rest of the talent in the draft, but if Forte is a 5ish ypc guy behind a good line for 6+ years, that'd be hard to pass up.

He's on the low end of what I'd want, though. I'd definitely hope I was getting more of a Peterson or Charles type.

They've been horrible in pass protection but he's had run blockers before. And a true stud doesn't need to rely on a great line. Peterson would have been fine with Chicago. If you can't be a beast when everybody knows you're getting the ball, you aren't a first round stud.

Assuming he actually did sign with the Titans, I really like the Antonio Andrews pickup. Has the potential to replace Shonn Greene as the power back at a much cheaper price as early as this year.

Ah, didn't realize they had good run blocking lines. I knew the line had been terrible and assumed it was the case all the way around. It still depends on the quality of the draft. Forte has been extremely consistent and durable as well as being quite productive.

Yep, an ideal 2nd round pick.

I'm not saying Forte relies on a great line, I'm saying with a better line his numbers might improve slightly. Same with Peterson, Charles, LT or any other back. Peterson has a career 5.0 ypc and Forte is at 4.3 - if a better line gave Forte a few tenths of a yard more, he'd be really close to Peterson.

Heck, he's already really close to Peterson if his first two years were more like the past 4. Not sure why he had the 2 years of slightly sub-4 ypc, but it's what's keeping him from being on Peterson's level.

I know what you are saying, and my response is if you are actually a stud worth a top of 1st pick, you would be Peterson and not forte. Everything ap has done is with a non-qb.

If the draft is strong enough to push him down, sure. I don't think a first round grade would be out of line, though.

I probably wouldn't take Forte early in the first unless it was a pretty barren draft. I wouldn't rule him out of the entire first, though.

Vikings have done well in UDFA: Tennessee St TE AC Leonard, Tennessee OT Antonio Richardson, Northwestern WR Kain Colter. All guys I would have loved to see the Bears sign.

I think Gurley is a stud and there are a couple of other talented RBs next year who would have gone in the first round in years past (Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin and Mike Davis of South Carolina).

Gurley definitely is a freakish athlete. I want to see him another year before feeling confident that I'd take him in the first round, but I think he's probably worth it.

Davis is really good as well, possibly a first round quality RB too. Not familiar enough with Gordon yet - I need to watch some Wisconsin games.

Henderson is not expected to be drafted in his sport in June

Fortunately, it’s almost assured that Henderson’s younger brothers won’t be exposed to any coverage of him getting selected in the NBA Draft when it rolls around in June.
