Also ignoring the fact that Conte might not even be healthy at the start of the season.

All 4 safeties that had any value are gone now. The Bears really fucked up in hindsight and should have taken Clinton-Dix.

Why are the 49ers having a draft party in San Pedro (which is in LA)?

Edit: Now it says San Jose.

No, they didn't.

So who are the Bears going to find better than Conte at this point? Free agency is done, the talent of safeties dropped off after Ward.

Conte isn't better than a UDFA let alone an early round S in this draft

So Carr/Bridgewater might not go tonight? Crazy

That was heavily rumored (especially for Bridgewater), but it still surprises me. I didn't think every QB-needy team would put that much stock into a bad pro day.

I thought HOU or another team would trade from early 2nd round to late 1st round to get that extra year of team control for the QB they wanted

First off, they already got rid of the worst safety in the lineup (Wright). Secondly, Fuller can play and safety and probably will at least a little in non-nickel sets. Thirdly, Conte was good a few years ago when the front 4 was much better and not playing guys off the street; they've improved the DL and can continue to do so tomorrow. Hope he's better when he's not as exposed. I'm not sure he'll even start at the beginning of the season because of injury.

Lots of reaches at the end of the first round.

Don't think Easley or Ward were reaches; Marcus Smith certainly was.

I'll cut a bitch if I have to watch conte completely whiff coming downhill on the ball carrier again

Who were our starting safeties in 2010, 2011, 2012? How was our defense then? If we get a top corner and defensive tackle between today and tomorrow it's not time to kill ourselves just yet.

I've not seen Ward rated higher than mid-2nd round. Mayock referred to him as a 2nd-3rd round guy. He's a good player, but could have possibly been had later. There's not much left at S, though, so he was justifiable. Same with Buchanon.

Smith was easily the worst, though. I agree that Easley was not a reach talent-wise.

I don't really like the guy but Chris Harris was pretty valuable in 2010 but fell apart in 2011
