Only partially related, but that tweet is obnoxiously self-important. You're a message board/Twitter rumormonger who's been incorrect a number of times, there are no repercussions because of the "gravity" of the situation if the info isn't quite right.

It could reveal a source or something that he doesn't want to expose and lose what info he does get. I don't think it's all that weird of a way to put it.

He said it's not related to a player transaction.

I hate this stupid offseason so much.

I'm pretty eager to be excited about it being either of the 40%ers I mentioned...moreso the TV deal, since that comes with some major certainty of revenue, I think, but both are pretty big.

Agree. The stadium is going to happen at some point, and isn't really that interesting. The TV deal is what could theoretically be a game changer.

We're going to get a TV deal eventually. It's going to be for more money than we make now. That just doesn't excite me.

Suddenly you're acting like you weren't (and there isn't reason to be) concerned that that whole thing wasn't going to work out very well (and at the very least that it would take quite a while to see a major bump)?

This possible deal with Fox seems like a best case scenario. I'm eager to hear how much money is involved.

There is a very large range of revenue expectations that are possible with a new TV deal, and the timing can also vary quite a bit. If we find out this week they are getting a big influx, that would be a little exciting.

A really amazing deal would excite me. If this is just "we didn't have to give our 2015-2019 games away for the same price they are now," meh.

Can they sell their rights beyond 2019 now or do they have to wait?

If so, would it be sort of a handshake thing with Fox that we'd do this deal with them now and then work with them again in 2019?

I'm guessing we COULD sell them at any point. But I see no reason why anyone would theoretically buy something now that doesn't go into effect for years and the market can easily be defined as volatile.

The same reason any of these 25 or 30 year deals happen?

They'd just be getting fewer games the first 5 years or w/e.

Hell if I know. Just spitballing.

Selling to Fox specifically beyond 2019 might have some complications because of the ownership stake in CSN, but I'm no lawyer.

Oh, I see the point. But with the risk involved in all these deals, it's one thing to pay whats perceived market value at THAT time. To me, it'd just be TOO much of a risk to do it when you don't have to. At least not without seeing a large discount, which I can't see a team doing. Who knows though? Guess its possible BOTH sides would want to get it out of the way.

Ty messaged me what the news is, said he's waiting for second confirmation.

It's ... not small news at all. Definitely significant.

PM plz

TT, how do you feel about a message board gossiper twice removed being secretive?

You are, and I'd love to spread it around, but it was really cool of him to tell me and I'd rather not burn him. I want him to have his scoop.

Can you at least confirm that it isn't terrifyingly awful?

Did he give a timeline on when he can release this information? Is this something we'll find out more about later tonight or later this week?

He did not, but my guess is that *if* it's true, it won't be long. He's waiting for a second source to confirm, and I assume that if he's telling me, he must be expecting it very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the beat reporters are chasing it down, too.

I think this is another secret Kerry Wood signing.

Get 'em jazzed at Cubs Con.

What would get em jazzed at Cubs Con would be for, after announcing the line of prospects that all walk down the carpet and greet the fans. Have Pat Hughes announce in his usual smirky style. The he wants to announce the newest Chicago Cub. Let's give him a big hand. Masahiro Tanaka!! WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
