Get blocking, see better QB play. Like we all said oh I don't know 10,000 years ago

I thought for sure he was going to have a monster game after that first half.

Of course, hitting on either of those deep balls to Alshon would've helped a lot.

BTW, WTF was that play call on 3rd and 4 when we were hitting the short passes pretty much at will the entire game?

There were a few bizarre calls from Trestman, no question

That backwards slant to Jeffery would have hit the spot there

He runs the ball like a hipster

cutty when asked about his offensive line: "i love those guys." what a bad teammate.

Dude. But he pushed Webb a couple years ago. ......on national TV!

The defense needs to find a better solution at DT than dressing up two coatracks in Bears uniforms and pads. The Giants OL was holding all day, but still, ugh.

Still, good game.

And Emery drafts like one.

Marshall asked on the NFL Network how Trestman has helped Jay mature. Marshall said Trestman hasn't really done anything, this is all Jay just playing better. He said Cutler is the smartest guy in any room he enters.

Marshall's an idiot, but the dude can play. Trestman may not have done anything to Jay, but he's certainly proved he's capable of putting together an NFL offense and it's been a bunch of years since Jay had a head coach or coordinator who could do that.

Yeah, not the ass beating I was hoping for. Getting gashed by Brandon Jacobs was by far the worst part of the game. No pressure on the QB but that's nothing new.

Hated the call to go for it on 4th and 2, you have to get the points there. Thankfully Eli bailed them out soon after.

Have 10 days to rest for Washington, and then 15 days after that to rest for GB. Time for the defense to heal up.

I think on the first one the receiver didn't cut off his route and Jennings undercut him. Maybe a little miscommunication. On the last one, it skipped off the top of the fingers of the outstretched TE on the Bear 12 yard line. If the Giant TE makes that catch, the Giants most likely win. They weren't horrible throws if I remember correctly.

Bennett was asked tonight on XM NFL Radio what he's going to do this weekend: "Hang out with my wife. Eat Cheerios. It's good for your heart."

I was at the game tonight. One of the worst crowds I can remember. Quiet, and a lot of first-time attendees who didn't know what the [expletive] they were talking about.

It can probably be chalked up to it being a Thursday night game, but still.

I should probably feel worse about this game than I currently do but I'm just so enthused to see a competent offense on the field. Yeah, during he game I was screaming my head off at the defense unable to do anything at all to stop an 0-5 team but the Bears offense looked positively *professional* and that makes me so happy I can't even express it.

Yeah they only scored 3 points in the second half and it was against an atrocious defense but they executed, putting together long impressive drives. If not for some weird calls here and there (inside wide receiver screen on third and short? I know why they were trying to run screens all day but, odd) and even without a truly productive running game Cutler was on his game tonight. Encouraging.

Defense is a dumpster fire. Someone get off a block, please. I agree with an above poster that there were some curious no calls of holding but even so, that D-line, my god. No matter how good of a back 7 you got (and the Bears got some problems there anyway) without some pressure you are just boned in the NFL. But this point has been belabored for weeks, who knows what can't be done at this late hour.

What a gross win. The offense looked godly at times, but yet again went through long stretches where they just couldn't make anything happen, largely due to ridiculous play calling. That said, given that it's a first year overhaul it's still super promising and something to be excited about.

The defense, however, looks busted and scary-bad. Yeah, the injuries aren't helping, but there's little to show that they won't just get pushed around by any halfway decent team. Really would not be surprised to see this team end up something like 8-8 or 9-7.

Didn't see game or highlights. Is Eli just throwing to the other team or are his receivers out of place?

I missed the first INT

The second looked like a bad route.

The third was thrown high, tipped by the receiver, caught by the DB

Yeah I'm not worried about the offense only scoring 3 points in the second half. They only had one 3 and out all game (technically a 4 and out), and had at least 37 yards on every drive except the first one (that started at the Giants 12), and the last real drive of the game.

Their second half possessions:

8 plays, 40 yards FG - The Bears drove down the field with ease until a 2nd and 10 from the Giants 28, when Forte ran for 19 yards down to the 9 but it was called back due to holding which didnt even seem that bad. On 2nd and 20 Cutler overthrew Jeffery and then on 3rd and 20, the Bears played for the FG with a short pass to Bennett.

8 plays, 38 yards, punt - Again the Bears started at their 19 and drove into Giants territory with relative ease. Bears had first and 10 at the Giants 44 about 10 yards from FG range. Cutler had Jeffery open on a deep pass and threw it perfectly but Jeffery sort of stumbled and didn't get to the ball in time. Then an interesting play call to run Bush up the middle for no gain followed by a short pass to Bush that was incomplete forcing the Bears to punt.

9 plays, 36 yards, punt - Bears start at their 18 and drive all the way to the Giants 33 on 9 plays. They have 2nd and 4 and are in FG range when Marshall catches a pass and when stopped about a yard short of the 1st down inexplicably runs backwards and ends up losing a yard instead of gaining 3. Still in FG range on 3rd down when a Giants player runs right up the middle unblocked and forces Cutler to throw the ball towards Forte's feet. The officials sort of blow it (IMO) and call it intentional grounding, backing the Bears up 10 yards and out of FG range, which causes them to punt.

5 plays, 17 yards, punt - Bears start at their 35 with good field position, get to the 46 needing maybe 17 yards for a game clinching FG. Cutler overthrows Jeffery on a deep pass on 1st down, then Forte gets 6 on 2nd down. On 3rd and 4 Cutler for some reason tries a 20 yard pass to Bennett that is incomplete and the Bears punt

So the Bears had a probably TD drive turned into a FG because of holding, a FG drive that turned into a punt because of questionable intentional grounding, and some interesting play calls. It's not like the offense was going 3 and out every time.

But then again we were playing the Giants.

Man, Mully and Hanley is unlistenable. And Alex Brown is a terrible analyst. They all sound like they are talk radio callers, not paid professionals. Just had to get that off my chest.

Anyway, the defense is broke. They can do one thing well, turnovers. They can't get off the field on 3rd down. The offense better keep improving, because we're gonna be in some shootouts.

Week and a half till a bad Redskins team, and then a bye before Green Bay, Detroit, and Baltimore. Yeesh.

Yeah, I don't have any problems with the offense other than the playcalling on 3rd down, primarily. The Forte run on the 1st drive. The WR screen, when the quick slant was there all night. The "big" formation on 3rd and 1 with the time running and you had to completely take out Britton, Fiametta, Bush, and Rosario without wasting a TO.

I'm hoping the bye week clears a lot of this stuff up. Lots of points left on the board. Trestman hasn't been bad, but it's almost like he has to get used to the NFL again. I really would like it if he wasn't calling the plays and coaching. I understand why it's hard to do both. Seems like he's more focused on playcalling than figuring out down/distance/situation type of stuff.

But I'm still confident the Bears can beat the teams even with them at home and they can beat the teams worse than them anywhere. That means the only games they should really struggle to win are both GB games, and at least they get 2 weeks off before the first one. Detroit comes to Chicago. Baltimore isn't that good. Ditto for Dallas (though, I've always thought they might lose that one looking at the schedule). They are better than Minnesota, Cleveland, Philly and Washington.
