Rose's "new" jumper looks as flat as his old one.

Sounds like somebody wasn't watching the all-important preseason

Now this is an overreaction to 1 game.

It's not you, it's everyone declaring the Bulls done after one game.

They're not done, they're just not going to win a title this year.

And that is exactly the jumping to conclusions I'm talking about.

Well the last page or so of this thread is about as dumb as I thought it would be.

Pretty much this.

Pop quiz. ..can anyone guess how many meaningful (not preseason) games the Rose-Butler-Deng-Boozer-Noah lineup has played together?

Last night was the first.

How is it jumping to conclusions when we have 3 years of watching the Heat and Bulls to back it up? That's a long, slow crawl to a conclusion.

The conclusion is clearly based more off the performance last night as opposed to past years (and does last year even count?)

The lineup has played one meaningful game together. It's ridiculous to write them off completely based on that.

I do agree with you, though, that the Bulls without Rose, Deng and Noah are not going to win a title, as last year showed.

On the flip side, though, it'll be nice having league MVP Carlos Boozer in the fold all season if last night's game is any indication.

Not just first game, first minutes. They'll figure things out.

They never all got on the court together in 2011-12? I know Jimmy didn't really play much, if any, at the 2 spot. Did they all ever play in the same game (just not at the same time)? Or was at least one of them injured for every game that season? I don't know why that seems so long ago to me.

I think everyone often forgets how close the ECF series was in 2011, despite it only going 5 games. If the Bulls are healthy come playoff time, they will have a decent shot of winning a championship.

After some lingering doubt, Chicago has signed Marquis Teague to his third-year option for the 2014-15 season, league source tells Yahoo.

This team is just poorly constructed. You can't make shots, you won't win. Not just one game, been like this for years.

Are you talking about two out of the last three years where they had the best record in the league?

Masters of the regular season, until the wheels fall off because the Dusty Baker of basketball is running his glue guys into the ground by playing them too many minutes in meaningless games.

What a short-sighted response to a valid point.

Also lets ignore the fact they had the best defensive bench in the league by a mile in 2010. That bench is LONG gone.

He's right about the minutes thing. Coaches like Popovich understand that possibly losing a few regular season games in order to give your starters rest is worth it in the long run.

I love Thibs, but if Deng is out here. 40+ minutes per game again I'm going to be annoyed

I don't think you're going to find anyone who wouldn't mind him playing his key players less, but almost all of the major injuries/medical injuries that have sidelined Deng, Noah and Rose in the playoffs under Thibs have happened regardless of their playing time. How many times is this meme going to come up like he's actually causing injuries with the playing time he's dishing out?

I agree that Thibs could rest his players some more. But I really think this point is overblown. Deng has been the healthiest of his career under Thibs. He's played in 91.7% of his teams games under Thibs. 81.9% the rest of his career. Are you arguing that he'd be more efficient if playing less minutes per game? He had the 2nd highest TS% of his career under Thibs in 10-11 when he averaged 39.1 MPG (2nd highest of his career). I believe his inefficient play over the last 2 years is due to playing the majority of those games without Rose creating open shots for him and his injured wrist, which he refused to surgically correct.

Derrick had the lowest MPG of his career the year he tore his ACL. Can't blame that one on Thibs.

The one player that I care most about MPG with is Joakim. However, outside of last year, Thibs has done a good job of limiting Jo's minutes in the past. Hopefully Jo's increased minutes last year was due more to Rose being out and Jo being needed to facilitate the offense rather than losing Asik and not having a dependable backup.

Yesssss. This thread was already off to a roaring start of hilarity, but now the master is here to show all the noobs how it's really done.

Everybody is freaking out sooo much and you're so cool and calm and stuff. Yeah! You show em!

I'm anxious to see his usage of Deng and butler this year. Jo needs more rest, but you're stuck with a corpse at backup C
