Week 5 Saints (4-0) @ Bears (3-1) Noon CT Fox/780

Posted
@BradBiggs: Fox is sending its No 1 crew of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver to call # Bears #Saints game on Sunday at Soldier Field.

Aaaaand being in St. Louis, FOX will be showing the Rams-Jags game. Christ.

And you can't even get lucky by it not being a sell out because they just won't show anything in that slot. Being in an NFL city blows when the team sucks and you really don't care about it. The only getting 2 games a week thing totally sucks too. I'm loving my Sunday ticket so far. Not looking forward to having to pay for it next year though.

Jags have a shot!!

Reggie Bush was the difference between the Lions and Saints offenses if you think that Graham=Megatron in their relative ability. Unless they turn it over a ton, Bears will win.

I think that score is just about right. I just am not sure who comes out on top. Turnovers and special teams decide it I'm thinking.

Sproles is our new Reggie Bush, but I see what you're saying. Brees>>>>Stafford though.

"An NFL source told me that Jay Cutler wasn't 100 percent going into the game. In fact, Cutler apparently took IV fluids before the game. I'm not sure it played into the outcome, but I thought it was important to note."

Kinda adds up with some of the uncharacteristic weak throws he had.

Sproles 'new' ????

He's nothing like Reggie Bush and frankly is less worrisome. Jimmy Graham is the only clear threat from NO. They have a collection of randoms at WR and no real between the tackles runner.

I think the Bears bounce back in this one.

Meh. He also had some wild overthrows too. I guess you could speculate that he was overcompensating though. Whatever, he had a bad game, no need to find reasons or excuses. Just get better

No excuses, definitely a bad game. But I just thought it was a different looking "Bad Jay" than the normal "Bad Jay".

Does anyone else find it extremely annoying when people/media refer to Cutler as 'Bad Jay' or 'Good Jay'? That isn't used with any other QB and it's just a lazy narrative.

That started with Grossman, Good Rex vs Bad Rex.

It's used with other QB's...those with consistency issues. Just a couple examples:

It was used all the time with Rex Grossman. It is used with Eli Manning.

Fair enough on Bush/Sproles. I was probably thinking about Bush circa 2007 and Sproles today. Reggie is much better now.

Colston and Moore are damn good receivers. Neither are a Brandon Marshall but they are definitely not "randoms".

For us, sure. But I imagine that it's much more of a local term than a national one generally.

I've heard plenty of Bad/Good Eli and Flacco.

Colston and Brandon Marshall have remarkably similar career numbers, so unless you consider Marshall a random, then Colston sure isn't.

That is a ridiculous comparison.

Colstons QB has routinely put up 4500-5200 yards every year. Marshall has played with a 3700 yard QB just once.

Like last week, going Saints 41-34 over the Bears. Bears wont have as many turnovers, Brees wont miss like Stafford did especially with no pass rush.

Damn you for last week, and double damn you for this week!

Check out football-reference's active career receiving leaders. They are pretty much right next to each other. I'm not saying Colston is better than Marshall (because I'd rather have Marshall given the choice), but the whole point of the comparison was to point out that someone who compares statistically in a favorable way to Marshall isn't just a random WR.

Receiving TD

Marshall - 17th with 47

Colston - 11th with 59

Rec Yds

Marshall - 16th/8,103

Colston - 17th/7,596

Yds per game

Marshall - 8th/73.0

Colston - 9th/72.3

Receptions - the only massive disparity statistically

Marshall - 13th/639

Colston - 16th/546

And I get that Brees is better than Cutler, ergo his receivers should have good numbers, but it's hardly a ridiculous comparison.

Ridiculous was being kind. It is stupid. This isn't baseball you can't just compare those stats and say they are similar.

lol, whatever goony.

back to the initial point, do you think a guy with Colston's career numbers is a "random WR"? Because I think that isn't just ridiculous, it's stupid.
