Who Dat!

I'm not sure which team's idiotic phrase is more idiotic, these guys or Cincy. Is there another team that uses similar gibberish?

Anyway, yesterday's Bears team was terrible. They won't win another game playing like that. I still feel like Trestman runs the risk of losing this team in a hurry if things don't go well. The defense is kind of a mess, ranking bottom half in yards and points allowed. The bend but don't break philosophy that depends heavily on turnovers can be exploited by competent offense. The offense needs to get its stuff together in a hurry because they are going to have to start carrying this franchise more and more until a new surge of talent arrives on the other side of the ball.

If they do win this game, which Vegas doesn't seem to expect (Chicago -1), they get a couple of teams that have been playing like yesterday's Bears team all season long, and a chance at 7-1.

The Bengals have tried to steal WHO DAT from the Saints. It makes sense down here with New Orleans and Louisiana accents. I'm not sure what the hell Cincinnati is trying to do. Go ahead and hate it. We don't care.

I haven't seen too much of the Bears games this year. I will tell you that the Saints defense is night and day better than last year, when players were routinely out of position and they were completely on their heels. The strength is easily the D-line and the pass rush, but the secondary is much improved. Kenny Vacarro at safety is a future star. The LB's are adequate, which makes me nervous about Tulane's own Matt Forte.

The Saints offense has finally started to click this year once we decided to stop forcing Mark Ingram into the mix. It really is a pick your poison situation with Drew Brees and all the weapons they have. Jimmy Graham is Jimmy Graham, and it seems like they've tried to get Colston more involved so far. I still say that outside of Brees and Graham, Pierre Thomas is the most important player on offense. Our left tackle is not so good, but the line has been pretty solid, especially since we get Jahri Evans back this week.

Almost forgot. WHO DAT!!

Fortunately we get the Saints at home on a short week for them. Thank God they don't have a Reggie Bush. They'll get their 300+ yards passing or whatever, Graham will be hard to stop, etc. One-dimensional teams scare me a lot less though. Some pressure on Brees would be nice, but probably asking for too much. Their defense is playing well, but they've faced Freeman and Palmer over the past two weeks. Not worried about putting points on the board.

It'll be another close one, but if Cutler goes back to the first 3 weeks Jay Cutler, it should be fine.

Remembering back to the last NO/Bears game, I'd like to see some blitz packages that pummel Brees over and over and over and over again. We owe their QB a beat down like he's never seen before. The last time these two teams met was the worst I ever saw the Bears offensive line play. I seem to recall it being a Sunday or Monday night game, also.

It was a Sunday late game back in 2011. Yeah that shell I was talking about where Cutler goes into when he gets pressured too much, he was in it the entire second half. But to his credit, a lot of drop backs he wasn't getting much time at all.

Oh ya, that was the game where Cutler was sacked like five or six times.

Saints have lost their last three times in Chicago. All three losses came in December and January though. Last time they won there Aaron Brooks was QB.

That was also the year of the Saints bounty, and the game Cutler left with a broken finger, IIRC.

His broken thumb?

That was against the Chargers in 2011.

Thought I remembered Cutler getting knocked out of that game. Also seem to remember there being a hit on Cutler in that game that gave more support to the bountygate controversy at the time. Maybe a concussion? I know he got concussed in the Giants game.

ETA: Nope, I'm wrong. He was just attacked mercilessly in that game. No injuries to speak of and the only qb of record in that game.

Cutler lost his voice when he got kicked in the throat in that game.

Actually the controversy (sort of) after that one was Cutler was allowed to finish the game, which was a blowout. Sort of reminds me of yesterday.

I'm sure the Bears will gain a little bit from being at home, but yeah -- it won't be the same level of advantage. Nice to play at home after 2 weeks on the road, though.

Earl Bennett almost died from getting hit in the chest after going across the middle. No penalty.

Getting hit in the chest is a penalty?

@BradBiggs: Fox is sending its No 1 crew of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver to call # Bears #Saints game on Sunday at Soldier Field.

Aaaaand being in St. Louis, FOX will be showing the Rams-Jags game. Christ.

And you can't even get lucky by it not being a sell out because they just won't show anything in that slot. Being in an NFL city blows when the team sucks and you really don't care about it. The only getting 2 games a week thing totally sucks too. I'm loving my Sunday ticket so far. Not looking forward to having to pay for it next year though.

Bears 31, Saints 27

Reggie Bush was the difference between the Lions and Saints offenses if you think that Graham=Megatron in their relative ability. Unless they turn it over a ton, Bears will win.
