Jay trying not to crack up talking about tonight's trucking. Tafoya trying SO hard to make it into something.

And then they turn to Wright and talk to him about...Cutler running over that dude.

If Jay doesn't make a great throw and Bennett a great catch, no one talks about that play. BUT THAT'S CHICAGO BEAR WEATHER, FIRE AND PASSION FOOTBALL.

When he wins a ring the narrative is going to be how he learned from the NFC Championship and how it taught him how to be a leader and all that [expletive].

Lord almighty, this is so right. Blech. It's like how whenever the Cubs win it it's of course going to be linked to Bartman.

I will be too drunk to notice so it won't bother me.

I'll DVR all the "human interest" stories and never watch them.

93.2

97.7

90.8

Cutler's QB rating each week. I wonder when the last time he had 3 straight games with 90+ QB rating.

EDIT: Just checked and it was week 2-4 in 2009 the last time he did that.

Something I noticed tonight when I looked up Gould's stats to see the last time he missed an extra point...

How is it that the most accurate kicker in NFL history has only made one Pro Bowl?

Prior to a couple years ago his accuracy was protected by a lack of distant chances.

Yeah, but the dude is that accurate kicking half his games in Soldier Field.

ETA - he's actually fifth all time in accuracy, I guess.

This game had a decidedly Lovie Smith flavor to it. Started off all great, the offense was moving, but then it completely dried up and it seemed like Cutler himself lost some confidence. The playcalling got really conservative and a few missed opportunities (that Brandon Marshall drop was KILLER), but glad they could pull it all together at the end.

Interesting that they defense started off blitzing and pretty much never took their foot off the throttle. They are aware they can't generate what they need from the front line itself, and it really mostly worked. Sure the Steelers got their yardage, but they turned the ball over because of those blitzes and Roethlisberger, while making some big time throws, also missed some really easy ones. Overall, given the situation they have, they pretty much have no choice but to blitz. Hope Melton's ok too.

It's an era where all kickers are more accurate. Historical ranking doesn't mean much. And lovie never tried 50 until maybe 2 year ago. Some guys have been doing that forever. Plus, pro bowls only take one kicker.

I don't know, without the turnovers it's just horrible wide-open receiver after horrible wide-open receiver.

They'll need to blitz. No question. But Tucker has got to have the right strategy with it. If he over-uses it, it could get really ugly.

People are gonna get their yards now, this is the NFL. Brian Hoyer gets 300+ yards and its no big deal. You gotta get home on those blitzes, and the offense has to score and be consistent.

There were what, at least 3 times they had Roethlisberger dead to rights and couldn't bring him down? It was frustrating.

There was no interior pressure by the DTs, minus that one long run by Forte, they didn't run the ball at all.

I hated the passiveness at the end of the 1st half. Pitt changed their.coverage at the end of the 1st half.

We'll see if Detroit uses the pump fake.

Cutler comes through again when he needs to.

Linebackers played great. Better pressure from the ends.

I was going to say that it felt like a 2006 era game, except we didn't really allow 400 yards in many games in 2006 (I think). Big point totals, offense had spurts of effectiveness but lots of ineffectiveness as well.

Kinda feel bad for Melton since he's playing with the Franchise Tag. Of course if he does have an ACL tear and misses the rest of the year, he would be easier to resign at a lower price.

Was he ever offered a long-term deal?
