@ProFootballTalk Greg Hardy missed 15 games last year; adding another 10 to it seems excessive, to say the least.

Welp

Welp

LOL wow. Hardy should be thanking God he's still in the league after what he (allegedly) did.

I also like the picture of the triumphant Nashville player and the dejected Chicago goalie in the picture.

Pete Rose joining Fox as an MLB analyst. :clapping:

Should be fun.

Why are you clapping?

I was around him for a short while when he came to speak at BSU and took the student newspaper staff out. Nothing in there even remotely surprised me.

Rizzo is apparently rooting for Mayweather too, though I haven't seen any media member go after him for it yet.

DiCaro has been pretty relelentless on the Mayweather stuff, and rightly so.

ESPN just ended negotiations with Bill Simmons and said he will not be back to ESPN. His contract isn't up until September though...should be some interesting times ahead.

I think there's been little chance of Simmons sticking with ESPN after his contract expired since the whole "Goodell is a liar" suspension.

Deadspin says that ESPN's John Skipper was pissed that Simmons went on Dan Patrick yesterday without prior permission, and that was the last straw.

This is actually very interesting stuff. He was basically fired, and it literally did happen spur of the moment - Simmons was tweeting out links to promote his grantland content literally minutes before the news broke. Skipper didn't even let him leave gracefully saying it was on mutual terms, he said that he personally decided to end negotiations.

The question I have is, did they actually cancel his contract, meaning he is free to go elsewhere immediately? I highly doubt given the reasoning and emotion behind Skippers decision that Simmons will be allowed to post new content or have anything to do with Grantland. So are they allowed to basically just shelf him until his contract runs out in 4 months? This would cause him to miss the rest of the NBA playoffs and the buildup to and first month of the NFL season which is typically the times that Simmons produces the most content.

Also interesting, how does this news effect his next contract? I'm assuming he will probably lose some money, or worse yet for him power, in his negotiations. It's possible someone like Bleacher Report might just throw a boatload of cash and editorial freedom at Simmons, but then he loses the ability to be on TV and produce stuff similar to 30 for 30. So does he take less to go to someone like Fox Sports, who I'm assuming is desperate to gain viewers to their station. They might be the controversial but popular Simmons as the person who can do just that.

I'll miss Simmons' overestimation of the importance of Boston sports. I think my favorite example was when he decided out of all the NBA playoff series, that they'd live chat the Cavs-Celtics series.

Not surprising at all but Simmons apparently won't do any more content for ESPN, including Grantland.
