All along — despite the Twitter rumors and Cubs Convention speculation — team officials predicted Tanaka would sign with the Yankees or the Los Angeles Dodgers.

So they expected all along that they wouldn't get him...yet alloted pretty much the entire offseason budget towards him. I don't wanna PTR, but...PTR

I'm not following the PTR logic here.

This thread used to also be about Kenta Maeda when there was a chance he'd get posted last offseason.

@BenBadler: Sounds like he won't miss any time, but Japanese RHP Kenta Maeda was removed from his last start with right elbow pain. MLB likely in 2015.

Also I want steroids back, I know pitcher's attrition rates have always been high but they have to be higher now than during the steroid era.

Seriously, screw pitchers.

This [expletive] is coming close to making me want to never sign a guy longer than a year.

Masahiro Tanaka flying back to NY for an MRI on his right arm, The Post has learned http://nyp.st/1xTqpQ6

Like a lightning bolt directly to the heart of Yankeedom if he needs TJS.

@FeinsandNYDN: Cashman said Tanaka has seen three doctors - Ahmad, Altcheck and one more. All three diagnose a partially torn ligament in throwing arm.

@FeinsandNYDN: One PRP injection and throwing program has been recommended. It's considered a small ligament tear for Tanaka. TJ surgery not ruled out.

Feels like the non-surgical option almost never works and takes just as long.

Yes. Seems like usually, once there's a tear, TJS eventually happens. Sooner or later.
