Since July 12 at home, Daytona has played only two regularly-scheduled, non-delayed nine inning games. Since July 12, Daytona has played three doubleheaders, had seven games postponed, had six games canceled with no make-up, and sat through six hours and 22 minutes worth of weather delays.

The Cubs have lost 10 games due to weather this season. Four first-half games were canceled and six second-half games went down the drain.

Not to kill any Javy buzz, but something to keep an eye on:

Vs. LHP (AA): .444/.512/.917 ---1.429 OPS

Vs. RHP (AA): .200/.253/.482 ---.735 OPS

Pretty sure some of his good hits in the last few days have came off of righties too, though.

for the whole season, it's not quite that pronounced

vs. LHP: .340/.410/.641, 11% BB, 29% K

vs. RHP: .244/.306/.521, 5.5% BB, 24.6% K

for his milb career he has a .991/.845 OPS split, but surprisingly also with the higher K rate vs. lefties

That doesn't kill my buzz at all, especially without BABIP info.

You know what, I take that back. I don't know why I was under the impression his Daytona slash was a bit extreme as well. I know SSS for Tennessee, but for some reason I was thinking it's been a trend and couldn't find his prior league splits.

@CSNMooney: Baker's start was rained out 3 straight days. He will throw on side + go on another rehab assignment next week, hoping to join Cubs by Sept.

I'm guessing Edwards also threw on the side and won't be an option to start tonight.

Edwards gets the start, pitches 1 inning, giving up 1 hit with a strikeout and no walks. And then rain set in.

Well, there goes that Edwards prediction.

candelario is 2-2 with a triple and a walk. he's definitely shown improvement: .268/.360/.474/.835 with 14 bb/15 k in july, and .235/.364/.412/.775 with 4 bb/1 k in august (coming into tonight's game). for comparison, he ops'ed under .700 each month from april to june and had a 33bb/54k ratio in those months. would say it has been a successful season for him, given his youth and recent improvement.

And CJ is done. Wang warming up.

well at least he got some work

That's a relief. I just checked the box score and noticed that he only pitched 1 inning. Didn't know of the rain delay. Though this being Daytona, it is the default.
