i get that you're making fun, but honestly, it's so sad that guys like sullivan, rogers, rogers, telander, haugh, morrissey, muskat, etc. have actual jobs and he can't find one.

i mean, most of that list is HOF of terrible worthy.

hey! I like David Haugh.

wtf

he was fine as a bears beat writer

awful ever since he was given free rein to write about anything, including his opinion

That dolt's first question to K.C. Johnson on the day of the NBA draft was "What percentage chance is Carmelo Anthony wearing a Bulls uniform by the time this night's over, K.C?"

Jason Parks ‏@ProfessorParks 42s

Nope. RT @Crewsett Hey @ProfessorParks, you think the Cubs can land Lucas Giolito for Javier Baez?

i'm not sure what i want to rage about more here

Parks isn't good at all with trade values. And that Stan guy, who appears to be a very knowledgable fan, should be able to read the tea leaves-we don't value young pitching like that. The only way I honestly see us doing a deal like that is if its one of our SS for TWO Giolito's. The success rate becomes much closer then. And no team in baseball is going to do that type of deal for us.

We aren't going to be trading from our top prospects for players who aren't established in MLB. If they trade from surplus to add pitching, it'll be like the Nationals did for Gio and Fister.

I know Tim was asking for this earlier. I basically just added Russell, Schwarber, Zagunis, and McKinney to this and pulled a couple of ones I really didn't care about off. Added Straily and Tseng to the pitchers.

Hitters

Pitchers

i don't get it. are we pretending scouting doesn't matter now?

I'm pretending Sahadev's third-hand reports from whatever scouts will talk to him don't matter.

But mostly it's just funny because everybody in the world who pays attention to Cubs prospects has noticed that Almora is hitting the crap out of the balll, so it's an odd time to play the "I have top secret reports!" card on him.

Does he have a scouting source to tell me that Jake Arrieta looks awesome this year? Did some grizzled, middle-aged man with a radar gun and a stopwatch tell him that Kris Bryant has really good power?

Sharma made a career switch into an industry that is very difficult to break into (sports journalism) The people you mentioned are all older than he is and probably spent a lot of time freelancing or doing crap jobs to make connections and become full-time writers before getting their current jobs.

It's stupid, but it's the way it is. I'm sure that he will get his if he keeps it up.

TBF, most of the old guys probably broke in during the 1980s and early 1990s when it was an amazing time to be a journalist.

I realize all of that. They're still incompetent morons by today's standards.

I did. I'm probably the only remaining owner of one, too.

It's probably like being a Highlander. If you encounter someone with one you have to cut their head off and absorb their fandom

Alcantara called up - barney paternity leave

Is there a new word filter on here that changes DFA'd to paternity leave? Kinda like the Howry and [expletive] thing?

He has quickly learned the biggest difference between being a Cubs prospect and an A's prospect. Russell had around 6,500 Twitter followers on Friday night before the trade. By Monday night it had grown to more than 14,000.

"As far as Twitter goes, their fan base is awesome," he said. "They're DMing me and tweeting at me and stuff. It's awesome. It's something I'd like to learn about the Chicago Cubs. Their fans are really, really great and the atmosphere seems great too."

I feel like he's asking Kyle to stalk him.
